One terrible experience after another

Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2007
My husband and I rented a three bedroom townhome there for 6 months from 2006-2007. They were soooo nice to us when we signed the lease. However, on the very first day we moved our stuff, I turned on the water and while the cold water was okay, the hot water smelled like rotten eggs and it turned my wedding ring from sterling silver to brown. I told the head manager and she was very nasty and rude. She refused to rimburse me for having to get my rings cleaned. Then the maintanence guy came over to check it out and unhooked the washing machine without telling me. He informed me that the hot water heater had rotted on the inside. Because it was a hot water heater problem, I went ahead and did laundry in cold water. But because I was not informed of my machine being disconnected, it flooded water all over the kitchen and downstairs bathroom. This event along with the hot water heater did not constitute an "emergency" according to the manager. We were told the heater would be fixed in 3-4 days, and we had to clean the flood ourselves. We also had to walk down to the office 3 times to demand a solution in order to shower, she reluctantly gave us the keys to an apartment behind ours that was vacant. She also made me feel like she was doing me a favor by replacing the hot water heater even though it is the law that we be provided hot water. It took another month for them to replace the lenoleum floor that was flooded. When we finally moved out of the apartment the office was closed on the day we needed to drop the keys. We called the woman who had signed the lease with us, she told us we could just drop them through the mail slot in the door. 2 months later we recieved a letter notifying us that we had to pay over a thousand dollars because we left the windows open and this, in turn, froze the water pipes and caused an explosion in the apartment next to ours. I can assure you that we did no such thing. We wrote them letters for two more months explaining that we did not do this, but because we moved out of state we could not afford the time to pursue it through legal action, and so we ended up paying to be done with the mess. I can gaurantee that the apartment had been neglected to be maintaned in the absence of tenants and this was the cause of whatever supposedly happened. These apartments are extremely cheap for a reason, I deplore you, do not be fooled, and do not settle, it could cost you way more in money and stress when all is said and nothing is done. I would have wrote this review a long time ago if I knew I could. Qlkxv6lfLuuXn3BrtpO7
