Management turns life into a nightmare

It is sad that in a beatuful and exclusive area, management reverses all the positivities of the environment and makes it the worst living experience ever. Turns life into nightmare.

The manager of Village Green whose name I can not mention because of review writing guidelines, has shown incredible irrationality. Several examples:

A couple with a 6 month old baby had to move out in the middle of the winter on a short notice, becase their two bedroom appartment allowed only two persons per room. Husbands parents were visiting the couple helping on a temporary basis with the baby as parents were busy doctor residents working 80 hours a week each and without financial support to afford a nanny on a permanent basis. 5 persons were found in the appartment (apparently the baby was the excess full person that counted towards their count) and despite the pleads, they were not allowed to stay and were forced to look for another apartment in the middle of winter with not much spare time on board and a baby on their heads. This is even more bizzare, as they advertise the second room in the apartment as a bedroom, but in fact, the design of the air conditioning makes it impossible to use the room as a bedroom.

Second example: A mother was visiting her daughter in the building that just burned few months ago. The daughter was (also a resident doctor) on a one week vacation. Two nights before the second fire occured, she noticed in the middle of a night, sparks from the electrical installation. She called the management, the next day, only to hear from the same manager in the first example, that she does not live there and has no right to be there unannounced. The managements only concerns was to follow the "rules" failing to focus as always on an important issues that are obvious. Needless to say, management did not care about the faulted electrical installation, but only with the fact that the mother was not announced as a guest. Rest is history, the bulding burned, just like the whole place will probably cease to exist with the management of this kind. It is almost hard to believe the management of this kind exists, one would think they must working for the competitor of Village Green.

Well, while things certainly aren't perfect at the apartment community in question it is not fair to say the manager has no concern for the property and hides behind "rules". There are all sorts of policies and LAWS (i.e. occupancy) with which a Management company must comply when considering the best course of action with regards to its residents. It is also important to note that the current management company has only been 100% in charge of the property for less than one year and cannot be faulted for the less than perfect decision making of the prior management company. That being said, there are currently numerous changes happening on property to improve its overall condition. The new company is pouring millions of dollars into renovations and improvements to bring this property back up to where it should be. So, while I can understand frustration for past occurrences I would not be so quick to write this property off. Things are improving daily and will continue to do so.

I have a relative who lives there. It is a beautiful facility, however, we are worried for her safety because of the two fires within 4 years. Also, since the last fire, there are constantly fire trucks going through the complex. Sometimes with lights flashing and sometimes just driving through. Recently, there were 3 fire trucks all with lights flashing. Tenants worry about the constant flow of fire trucks, but everything seems to be hushed. Both fires caused total destruction of the buildings and the management has not given tenants any reason for the second fire. The building was recently torn down, yet no notice from the company or the fire marshall to let tenants know if it was, in fact, electrical. They did, however, go through apartments with infra red to check for hot spots. They are remodeling the buildings nicely. However, I believe most tenants still are in fear for their safety. Management should keep tenants up to date on the status of the fire marshall's reports. I would assume that since the building has been totally torn down now, that the fire marshall must have completed his inspections. I cannot wait for my relative's lease to be up. Our family worries constantly about her living there since this last fire. It's ashame because it is a beautiful place with wonderful amenities. But it's not worth risking your life to live there.
