I checked just about every apartment from Brunswick to Berea before renting at Stone Ridge. By far, the interior was the nicest looking, thanks to the upgraded fixtures, counter tops, nice cabinets and taupe walls. However, the materials and construction turned out to be cheap. The floor layout is not very spacious, When you allow for walkways, doors, etc., it's hard to put very much furniture in before you run out of room. The windows are at the front of the unit so the dining / kitchen / hallway areas in back don't get much natural light. In my 2-bedroom unit the massive shared bathroom was off the second bedroom, not my master bedroom which had a smaller attached bath. That's too bad.
The biggest disappointment was the noise level. I was on the first floor. People walking dogs were always outside my windows yakking up a storm. Some bonehead and his family spent hours in the courtyard playing corn bag toss and screaming and yelling like they were the only ones around. Ditto the pool. The walls and ceilings between units were so bad, I had major problems with the tenants above me. When I had company, the noise was so loud it would literally stop all conversation because you couldn't hear. Management was unsuccessful in resolving this issue. I eventually left because of it. I paid $1000 to live in a place I couldn't sleep. Sorry - not working for me. In addition, the area itself is noisy. There's airplane noise, being 2 miles from the airport, but the train noise is worse and happens at all hours.
After reading the other reviews I have to say management was always very nice to me, even though they weren't effective in resolving the noise issues. There were some issues I disagreed with, like a $25 late fee I was charged. I scheduled an electronic payment for the first of the month, which was a Saturday. Monday was a holiday, so the payment arrived on the first business day of the month (the 4th) and they charged me a late fee because it wasn't there by the 3rd. I talked to the regional VP and she wouldn't budge. This is typical of a very heavy-handed approach to these things with Richland. I think they built a place that has inadequate parking, poor landscaping, horrible sound and noise protection and they are more concerned with making a buck than providing an enjoyable place to live.

Sorry, but you simply sound like someone that shouldn't be living in an apartment. This is the 2nd Richland property I have lived at and it is by far superior to other apartment communities I have lived in. The noise is true, but still minimal. Most of your complaints are typical apartment living aggravations. You might want to invest in a house to have peace of mind.
