Has it's little problems, but it's really a great place.

I'm appalled to see such poor reviews on these apartments. Every place will have it's little quirks and mishaps. I don't exactly see the balloons as a huge problem. I think they add a bit of cheer, but maybe the only time they've lingered is near a holiday. And so what if they use balloons'
*I do have to say that safety is my biggest concern here. Our car was broken into in May of 2006, along with a few other cars. When we talked to the office, they said to report it to the police. It never got reported because the police hot line was undergoing technical difficulties. However, we happened to park in a bad area that one night. The bush was a bit overgrown and there were two huge SUVs on either side of our little 4-door. Aside from trimming the bush, there is little that could have been done to prevent it. The other bit about safety is that at the front of the complex, there are a bunch of town homes. People park their cars in the driveways, which cannot properly accommodate their car and it hangs into the road and also blocks driving view. Add in that people do speed through the complex, it worries me. I'm shocked that there haven't been any collisions, to my knowledge, yet. The speed limit needs enforced.
*The noise is typical. It took my awhile to get used to my upstairs neighbor stomping around all the time. I can hear his vacuum when he runs it too. He says he can hear my TVs and such too. It was rocky with him at first, but it seems to have settled into a groove and it's not so bad.
*It does seem to have a higher rate of moving in and moving out. In the 1.5 years we've been here, I think only 3 of the 8 possible apartments in my breezeway have been occupied at all times. There is a lot of moving in and out. Not a big deal, aside that you can hear when someone is moving in/out. Again, typical noise.
*One thing that does bother me is that people tend not to pick up after their dogs. The management has threatened to fine people, but in all honesty, short of installing security cameras, there is no way to detect who is doing their job in cleaning up and who isn't. It's kind of gross, especially since people walk behind our apartment and they let their dogs defecate in what is pretty much our backyard. It's annoying to look out the window and see a dog relieving itself and it's not even a neighbor's dog. Again though, typical stuff. Just watch where you step.
*Parking has been a real problem where my apartment is located. There are 3 buildings located in a triangular fashion, dumpster in the middle and my building happens to be the one with no overflow parking on my end. If we're lucky, we can park in front of our building, however, we are constantly forced to park across the street and almost right next to the town homes. It's really not a big deal, just bothersome. If you have a lot to carry in your house, you are better off butting up to the breeze way and carrying in, then parking. It seems people do that a lot.
*The interior is actually very nice. The cabinets, although not real wood, are nicer than most I've seen because they look like a nice light colored wood. The counter tops are a little dated, but only if you touch your nose can you really see it. The appliances are nice and up to date. We've had a little trouble with our dryer and dishwasher, but overall, everything works fine. I would be sure to keep some Draino on hand if you have long hair. I do and my bathtub constantly gets clogged. That happens anywhere I go though. The carpet is nice too, it's not too light but it will show that grape juice stain. The tile floors are probably my favorite feature. They aren't linoleum, but I don't know that they are stone. They are beautiful though. Overall, the interiors are very nice.
*I've used the pool a couple of times and it's pretty okay. My grandfather has a pool in Lancaster though, so I don't really have a reason to use the community one often. The few times I've gone though have been good. I try to choose times where there are minimal people there. Weekday evenings tend to be good for that. The sun deck overlooking the lake is gorgeous. To top it off, you can hear the fountains and it's very soothing.
*The fitness room usually looks fine to me. I don't use it because of the floor to ceiling windows and it's placement where everyone drives in. I don't care for people to see me working out. I can't honestly review it, but it always looks in good shape when I drive by or walk by (on the way to the pool).
*The club house is nice. It's decorated fashionably and you can rent it out for parties and gatherings if you like. The office staff are very friendly. Since the Connor Group took over, we've mostly dealt with Megan. She's a really nice girl and when we re-signed our lease, she even honored the previous discounts that Nicole (pre-Connor group) gave us. Such as an employee discount, no pet rent, etc. Our rent still went up, but only about $22. I was very pleased in meeting her. If you can, ask for Megan.
*One of the only other bad things is the location. It's literally plopped in the middle of nowhere. It's about 2-4 miles drive in either direction to get to a gas station or the grocery store.
*The school system is Columbus and I know the high school is Independence. However, there are 2 alternatives, both of which I experienced. The first being VCS of Ohio. A free statewide internet school. They even give you a computer and pay for your internet. Even better' The typical meeting spot/graduation/orientation is at a church literally 3 minutes away. The second option is to go to a private school. World Harvest Prep is in the backyard, literally. However, when I looked into them, they weren't very friendly. But, only Bixby road near Groveport, is a little school called Madison Christian School. They are Pre-K through 12th. They are extremely friendly and helpful, not to mention it's very reasonable. Tuition was about $4,000 for one student for an entire year. The staff are very nice and they don't shove religion down your throat. It's an extremely healthy atmosphere. I graduated from there and it was the best experience of my life. (Sorry, got off topic a bit, but I had to offer up these alternatives in case it's a concern.)
Overall, it's been a nice experience. I'm still living here, but our lease is up in June and by then, it'll be time for something new in a new area and such. I would recommend this complex to anyone. They are spacious, reasonably priced and friendly. Has it's quirks and mishaps, like any place. And we learned, the hard way, not to park in between 2 SUVs in the dark. Make sure you park in an open, well lit area and you'll be doing well.
I hope this helped someone out there!

If the people who worked here did their job in the slightest bit, there wouldn't have been feces sitting out long enough for people to complain to the extent that they did. My point is - they don't do anything, but take our money and they don't care what issues you have. You WILL be lied to, end of story.
