First of all, just to get a taste of what I went through before I even moved into the apartment, look at the post "management team lied to us" which was posted on 6/26/05, response #5, "anonymous" posted on 7/6 by me.
Utilities.....you will pay a water bill, which is not meter-read for each separate unit. They use a 3rd party to do their billing which is not Cincinnati Waterworks, and they charge an "administrative fee" which this fee makes up almost 25% of the bill. The billing is the total bill spread out over all apartment units....which is great if you do 5 loads of laundry a day (if you have a washer), and take 10 showers a day you might get your money's worth. Also, THIS IS GAS FURNACE and WATER HEATER. (you know where gas prices are). My electric bill doubled from my last apartment, and my last apartment was the same size, same floor, etc.....And, insulation is terrible, so it gets really hot in summer/cold in winter.
Maintenance wasn't too bad at response....there was a hole in the roof where water leaked through and poured out of my ceiling onto my fireplace. Had to call the emergency maintenance line to leave a message. Maintenance did let themselves in one time for a repair after repeatedly telling office I needed to be present due to the fact my cat may escape out front door.
Also, be prepared if anyone stays with you, be it young adult child or boyfriend/girlfriend, or other relative (18 or older), for more than 14 consecutive days. They will be subject to being added as another adult on the lease that has every legal right to your apartment even if you are the one financially responsible. Therefore, they are subject to a credit check as well, which could mean additional deposit. Which even if you are the original leaseholder, it could turn into an unpleasant situation if you want your "guest relative/significant other" to leave BECAUSE THEY DON'T HAVE TO. Also, if you have someone added to the lease, even if you are the one that paid the deposit, they will cut the final refund deposit check when you leave to both parties.
Parking.....there are no assigned spots. It was fine the first few months I was there until 3 college kids moved in downstairs and they and their friends would take up all of the good parking spaces. Also, in the spring be prepared for lots of potholes in the parking lot, and lots of water run-off and flooding that doesn't properly drain.
There is only one dumpster for the almost 500 apartments back there. It is constantly overflowing and is unsightly to look at.
