Years at this apartment: 2005 - 2006
Being a college student I felt Aspen Village was very reasonably priced. But after living here, I started to realize why the rent is so cheap. Here is my story: when I filled out the leasing application I was told that I was getting a particular apartment that would have new carpet and a new kitchen floor. About a week before I was scheduled to move in my apartment got switched. They told me that I needed a new glass door for the patio and that I should get it within the week. And of course the carpet and kitchen floor was old. To make a long story short....my glass doors were never replaced and now its over a year later. I kept asking the office about it and they kept telling me it was on order so I finally gave up. Below I have listed my like and dislikes about the apartment...hope that it is helpful.
Dislikes: (1) The apartment is pretty old especially the kitchen and the appliances, (2) if you get an apartment by the pool it will be very very loud in the summer time, (3)lots of kids running around in the summer, (4) my building in particular lock was always broken on the entry doors...so anyone could walk in, (5) there is a slight bug problem...mainly centipedes or bugs of that nature, (6) maintenance is slow but once they come they usually do a good job in fixing the problem, (7) sometimes there are questionable people walking around...which scares me being a female living alone, (8) they pretty much rent to anyone, (9) once there was mice let loose in my building by a tenant.
Likes: (1) the rent is cheap...I paid $510 for 2 bedroom, 1.5 bath apartment, (2) the apartments are pretty spacious, (3) its pretty quiet...at least during the winter months, (4) heat is paid for and electric was pretty cheap...about $30/mo if that, (5)the office staff is pretty nice, (6) they let me move in a couple days earlier w/o charging me so my previous lease would not overlap.
So to sum it all up, being a college student and being on a budget the apartments were ok, however, after I graduated and started working I was anxious to get out of there. So if your looking to save money check it out but beware of why its so cheap! They definitely need to do some renovations to the property. Oh and if you do get an apartment get a 3rd level b/c if not you will hear noise from above...don't hear too much from the sides.
