I've lived here ar Deercross apoartments for 5 years. Ownership changed hands over the winter, and we've had a new manager since January. Previously, local management was always limited in their authority and availability of resources by "corporate" management. That excuse has dissappeared with the new owners. I've read the other reviews here, and decided to write a review that was not driven by a complaint, but to provide one that might be useful to others looking for a straightforward opinion based on reaonable expectations, and actual community experience. We are in our forties and live with our grown son in a 2 bedroom apartment at Deercross. We've been here for 5 years, after owning our home for 28 years. I wanted to begin a trial retirement, and never got the slightest bit of enjoyment from mowing, shoveling, wiring, cleaning, maintaining and/or replacing furnaces, waterheaters, pipes, gutters, sidewalks, screens, the roof, misc. leaks and other limitless list of jobs required to own a home. I rented not wanteing to lift a finger, intending to settle in for while.
I can always find something to complain about, but frankly, that list is shrinking considerably since the arrival of new management this past winter. Whenever I need anything fixed, I get sameday service, and these guys will even come by to change a lightbulb. One recent repair was a little dusty, so management (at their suggestion) immediately cleaned our carpets as soon as the work way finished. What I really appreciate this place is the real sense of community. I'd say approx one out of 5 of us is a "long term" tenant, planning on staying put for a few years, not simply waiting to buy a house, or waiting to sell one. We're invested in this place, and see it as our neighborhood, care about our neighbors. TGhe reality is that the new management really "gets it", relative to issues impacting the stability and warmth of the neighborhood.
I really never expected to find this sort of an atmosphere at an apartment complex. I daily see neighbors checking on other neighbors, helping anyone who may have had a recent illness, or just dealing with any difficulty. People stopping to say hello to each other, asking about the kids, taking a walk after dinner, congregating around the pool area to chat for a few minutes seems to be more the rule than the exceeption here. As a result, even tough this is a community with a high number of dogs, and a diverse demographic, real dissagreements are rare. Real respect for our neighbors, and the "community" seem to allow for any differences to get resolved long before they become and issue. This in turn seems to build an even greater sense of investment in the community, making us all a lot more likely to pick up a stray candy wrapper, and to maybe share a meal with a new neighbor. I have not seen this at any other apartment complex in the are, ever. This is pretty unique, and having been here for a few years now, it's quickly becomming the reason I tell friends about Deercross, and why the efforts of the office staff is so critical. This review may sound like a "plant". It is not. I'll be happy to talk to anyone at any time about it. If you spend any time here at all, you'll see it, and feel it for yourself. I'm simply very much impressed with what's been created here. I very happy that I get to be a part of it. I gotta say that I really do like it here, and wouldn't leave so quickly. When you can find a real community with neighbors and managment actually caring about each other, you don't take it for granted.

Yes, we're still here. We're 15-20 minutes from covington. We're located right next to the east/west connector to 71 and 75. Pretty good central location, without hearing the interstate.

Do you feel that the community is safe for young tenants? Does it still feel as friendly as it did last May?
