Would have recommended until Connor Group took over....

I will have to agree with the other posts and strongly recommend against McCauly Crossing Apartments. I moved in prior to the Connor Group taking over and was extremely happy. The leasing office was wonderful - very caring and helpful with anything I needed.
A few months later (after the Connor Group came in), I noticed a much larger water bill--$30 vs. my usual $10. I called to find out the details and was told that all water bills would be calculated by the average of the square footage of your apartment ( a $6 'administrative fee' per month.....). I have a 1 bed/1 bath, live by myself, take about half of my showers a week at the gym, run the dishwasher about once a week, and travel several times a month, so this does not make sense to me and my 'lifestyle' at all (my water bill was actually more than my Duke Energy bill all summer....).
I was approached about renewing my lease 3 months before my move-out date, and basically had to decide on whether I wanted to stay a month later (or else pay almost $200 more per month for rent... yes, my rent went up almost $200). My lease states that I only have to give 30 days notice to move out. I basically wasn't given that 'option.' There are additional costs (as another post states) that honestly do not seem to make sense (before the Connor Group came in, I never had a pest problem.... why now').
The leasing office has really not been that friendly towards me or others. As I have searched for other apartments, the leasing offices have all asked me if something is going on at McCauly Crossing because they are getting a lot of people from here looking for a new place.... Hmmmm
Bottom line: Take the 'special' rate they give you, and tack on an additional $30 or so bucks per month ...
If you are looking at moving into McCauley Crossing, I would seriously re-consider. I honestly do not want to see anyone else have to go through what I did while staying here. I am moving out soon and into another place and cannot wait!!

They did the same exact thing to me! They have been harrasing me via phone calls, voicemails, and coming to my apartment at least 5 times a week for the past 2 months and my lease is not up until May. They have been so rude and informed me that my rent would be going up by 200 dollars as well, with a special rate of only 100 dollars extra if I made a decision that very day. It's rediculous.

I have had the same problems with the leasing office. I was approached in September and my lease was not up until end of December! The $7.50 charge for the 'common electric' is the biggest crock of all - you can light an entire complex for that cost. Not to mention my apt is near the dumpster, which they seem to have trouble with. It's constantly over flowing, and that was never a problem with Nexus. The woman who runs the office is awful as well, and doesn't have a clue about the laws regarding lease break. Yes, I'm so fed up that I'm actually breaking my lease. I too had no choice but to re sign the lease, and I had to do so quickly in order to "lock in the special rate". To pay what I pay for a 1 bedroom apartment and have to look at balloons, signs, and hot pink gorillas marching back and forth advertising open units is ridiculous. I can't wait to move away from the Connor Group, their lack of professionalism, and unreasonable rate increases.
