They will keep the deposit. Most likely a Corporate directive...

They will keep the deposit.
You should try to make a deal and do not leave the deposit.
Have been in two apartments, first on a Village Dr. another on Lake Thames Dr.
Never got $99 deposit back for neither of those two...
Spent three days cleaning the last apartment, just trying to make it perfect before we move out, it was shining clean no damages whatsoever.
Never got the deposit back, major reason listed was a "residential damage". Another reason was a water bill for the last month which we never got, because the management themselves asked their third-party billing company to stop sending bills. I would rather pay this water bill myself than let them mess with the deposit...
1. Kitchen cabinets had a masking sticky paper. Charged $50 for removal. - This paper was already there when we moved in. 2. Broken blinds - They were in the same state as they were on the dusrt day when we moved in. Wouldn't say they "broken", I'd say old and I did not care about them much... If I'd knew they consider those broken, I would make a call and let the maintenance repair it while I was still living there.
These so called "damages" were not listed in move-in sheet, which we filled out a year go. Who would knew that we had to check each and every blinds to see if it is "broken" or not working well, or if kitchen cabinets have a nice masking paper or no paper inside'
If they charge for these when people move out they should list these items in their move-in sheet, so when somebody moves in they would check if blinds are alright or if kitchen cabinets are clean as these cabinets would just come out from HomeDepot... All these items should be listed in move-in sheet with checkboxes... And maybe many-many other things... Go figure...
I am sure they could have found something other than what they have charged us for if not blinds and cabinents all this just to try to keep the deposit. Who would bother getting back their $99 deposit, and why we should bother paying it back - they think!...
So my advice to you, never pay a deposit... There is 99% chance that you will never get it back...
And indeed, I did not bother much, but at least I will leave this bad review about their Corporate Policies...
Other than that I would say that I have been paying a lot for my Electric bills, all because of bad and old insulation. Water pipes were leaking a couple of times, and flooded a neighbour downstairs once... Parking was full almost all the time the whole year, worse than it was on a Village Dr. Sometimes both of us my girlfriend and I had to park a block away. Staff is very helpfull, but not those who deal with money, i.e. Business unit at the office...
