DO NOT RENT THESE APARTMENTS

When I signed my lease I asked what if I need to break my lease' The lanlord stated that if I wanted to break my lease there would be a $500 lease breaking fee. When I told the manager that I would need to break the lease and pay this fee she stated that the fee had changed to 1150 and that I would have to pay 6 weeks rent. I told her that I was never informed and I should have been told the fee was changing and given the option to leave. She then stated that they were doing me a favor by offering that to me, that they werent obligated to offer me any type of settlement.
She said that there was nothing pertaining to this in my lease. I was also told by the district manager that in the contract there is a clause stating that no verbal agreements or arrangements would be honored and that it would not be honored. If thats true then all statements made by the landlord would not be honored. To me thats false advertising or even fraud.
Also it has taken 5 months to fix my counter tops that were warped from day 1 (still not fixed.) The manager told me in February that they would be fixed in March because they had a lot of moveouts that month and would have to take care of those before they could get to my countertops.
The doors are a mess, there are holes in the doors and a door jam is broken. My bathroom door does not lock, ironically the laundry room door does lock from the inside. The vinyl tiles are discolored (probably replaced that dont exactly match in color. I have an outlet that is split in half. The windows are aluminum that havent been replaced in decades are falling a apart and have dirt between panes so that they can never been completely clean. Not to mention that all of them are drafty, so smuch so that a worker was using a gas poered weed wacker and the fumes were inside in seconds. The front door doesnt stop the cold either and in the winter time you can feel the air coming in as if you have left it open 2 inches. The thing that pulls the screen door closed came off at one end and it took more than a month to fix that. Kept saying they were waiting on a part..... Seems to be the excuse.
