Ups and downs

My family have lived in Williamsburg for a year and a half. We are working folks, and parents of a toddler, just an average American family.
We have seen people come and go, not having any run-ins with anyone in our area (Kingsway Court Area) and have some pretty decent neighbors.
I guess the one thing I used to complain about is parking, however a call to the office seemed to resolve that problem as the tenants who moved next door to us seem to be a little more respectful in only having two cars parked in front of their door versus the four or five when they moved in.
Maintenance when we moved in was a bit inadequate but in the past week, we have made the call (dish washer and garbage disposal) and they were there within hours and had the problem fixed in really a matter of minutes. This includes having a new dish washer put in. I really have to give credit where credit is due. Maintenance is much better now versus 18 months ago.
The grounds, well much better also. Grass cut weekly, bushes trimmed and really the garbage is picked up from the area. Yes I have to pull my weeds in my backyard, but in reality, that is my responsibility anyway.
Noise, well yes you have that. It isn't an every night problem, but you do get some noise from time to time from tenants around you. Like I said, it isn't every night, so I can deal with it.
The problem I have, is the way parents let their kids run rampant in the streets. And they do not move when you blow and look at you like this is their area to walk, even though there is a sidewalk. I know growing up, I was a little more respectful to my elders than kids are today and I am only 32, so somewhere kids have lost that since of respect to themselves, their parents (who talk and do the same as the kids) and their elders. I think more needs to be done that would police the kids, because someone will eventually get hurt or killed.
I have read a few remarks about staffing a security patrol in Williamsburg, I really think that would be a great idea, having a 24 hour security service routinely checking the areas. It would definetly cut down some noise and some out of control kids.
This place isn't as bad as some have made it sound. It really isn't bad at all.
Last, though I do see the occasional trashy type person, I don't think section 8 is accepted in here. Like anyway, you have those who you may question but when it comes down to it, maybe those people just don't how to take care of themselves.
