I lived in Williamsburg from Sept 2006 til Sept 2007, upon moving out I was told I would receive my security deposit in 30 days. Will hear it is Jan 2008 and still no deposit. I have contacted the staff in the rent office several times and keep being told something different everytime. In November when I called and inquired about my deposit I was told by the property manager at the time, the corporate office would be sending me my deposit in a couple weeks. Well after another month I had not received it I called to find out that that property manager was no longer with the company and had to speaker to someone else who had no idea of what I was talking about. I was told they would have to look into it and get back, well they never did. So I had to make another phone call to the leasing office and this time I was told I would not get my deposit back because I had not paid my last months rent. By now I'm furious. I explained, if I had not paid my rent by the fifth of the month they would have filed a eviction, which never happened. I was then told by the now property manager, that Towne Properties kept poor records and I would have to prove I paid my rent for September. I think they should prove I didn't, but I'll let my attorney handle it from here. I have told everyone that ask not to rent from Williamsburg

I had the same thing happen to me. It wasn't until I made a complaint with the BBB that they sent my deposit. Williamsdump! Stay away!

I had the same thing happen to me as well regarding my deposit;I was told the exact same thing about Towne Properties keeping poor records etc. and I went so far as to contact Towne Properties and they informed me they turned all of the records over to Karam when Karam took over. I think they all are a bunch of crooks.

In the state of Ohio a landlord only has 30 days to return your deposit. If they do not return it within 30 days or give you a written explanation fo why they haven't returned it, you are entitled to up to three times the original deposit amount. Karam is the one who keeps poor records.....

I previously wrote about the mice problem and Karam giving my roommate and I a hard time about it...In December they tried to say we didn't pay half of our rent!..I paid with check and my roommate with money order, but they were both turned in at the sametime. To make a long story short, we had to go back and fourth with Karam about their poor recording keeping, had to show them the cancelled check and money order which showed that all the money went into their National City BAnk account, but they still have never apologized for the inconvience or even said yes, we do see where the money went into our account, my roommate and I had to go back to my bank and the place where she got the money order for them to tell us where and who cashed the checks...After a Karam told us don't worry about it, but still didn't tell us why not to worry about it...I know why.. b/c they know they received our money...So renters make sure if you pay with money order especially to keep your receipt for your records incase they try to say you didn't pay.

Yes these new Karam peolple suck!!!!!! They are rude as hell as well....I was the one who wrote the comment about them heating problem and how they wouldnt accommodate me in anyway...well to make a long story short they fixed the problem ONLY because I wrote a letter to the Better Buisness Breau. As soon as they received the letter from them they called me right away at my job and wanted to know how they could they accomate me ( they even gave me options to choose from)..... So if you are having a problem call the BBB on them and they will fix it ASAP because they DON"T want a bad reputation ( which it seems they have already gotten)!!!

I had the same problem with my rent as well... They left a notice stating that I'd paid my FEBRUARY rent on the 6th. Funny thing, the check cleared my bank on the 6th and I went on line to see a copy of it. Sooo, I called the office, told them I had a notice and before I could explain what it was about, she took my apartment number and said she'd call me back. When she DID call me back (remember, I never said what the notice was about), she said that I was wrongly charged a late fee for my DECEMBER rent and that it was their mistake and that it was taken care of. Okay, the notice said FEBRUARY, but their records said DECEMBER??? My rent was paid EARLY in December...imagine that... I think I may have to call the BBB just for principal sake!

I never had problems with Williamsburg but once Karamn took over, I started having problems. First they call said I paid my rent late, which I didnt. Then they sent me a letter probably after 3 months stating I owed a balance. I went in to review this with someone(not a manager) and they couldnt figure it out either. I looked at what they were looking at and the accounting was all screwy. They started charing me for month-to-month rent, which I had a lease signed for 12 months. They had a late charges showing which I never paid late. Yes, they did correct this down the road, but then they started to charge a higher rent then what I signed for. They also were charging me a water charge at the wrong rate from the letter I got about it. I have to say Karam is the company that has the bad records, not the previous owners.

Here is an addition to the terror stories. My husband and I moved out in 2007 and didn't hear back from anyone for nearly 2 months. So after contacting Karam corporate and Williamsburg we have been told we have nearly 800 dollars in damages! Supposably our stove had been ripped apart and blinds were gone along with "items left behind"! After we moved out our apartment was spotless and our stove was definitely not torn apart! The craziest part is no one had contacted us about this! I had to call myself (only expecting to get back our deposit) to find out about all of these bogus charges! We will be contacting the BBB and if we need to a lawyer. Either Karam had a nice scam going, or if you wait for two months to do a closing you can't be suprised if someone broke into to the apartment in a neighborhood like this one. I didn't know we had the option of doing the walk through with someone, but evidently you do. So I might suggest doing so. This place is really bad news. A terrible place to live.
