Having spent almost three years at Brookstone, I am nothing short of wholly relieved to be gone. The office staff is clueless, dumb, and useless. They'll ignore your messages and avoid you after you've given a mandatory 60-day leave notice. They can't even properly keep the books - after Shelly made a mistake in her bookkeeping, I was nearly fined $350 simply over her error! Since Tracy is no longer there to keep them in line, I expect the office to crumble soon.
The majority of the residents are inconsiderate toward neighbors with their pets and their noise. Pet waste is present on most of the grassy areas, dog owners often forget the leash rules, there are lots of young partiers through the week days who scream and play loud music at all hours, and the community-sponsored parties are awful. Not only do very few residents attend, the guests block the streets, take up most of the resident parking. Those parties can last into the wee hours, too, so even a heavy sleeper needs earplugs!
Also, the pond, which initially *looks* pretty, smells like sewage year-round, especially in August. The odor is so strong that it can be detected out on Ridge Avenue with your car windows rolled up!
Most importantly, however, is that the units are falling apart and MUCH too expensive. My carpet was filthy when I moved in, the walls were cracked and have never been fixed, and the heat went out more than five times in January. My windows were so bad that I could actually stand in the room and feel a draft coming in, which made gas & electricity bills appalling! When it rained, my windows leaked so badly that water stains appeared from the sill to the floor. That was after the windows had been "fixed" three times before. So, not only is the workmanship shoddy, but the builders used shoddy materials in the interior.
I even left my old apartment in better condition than when I moved in, and Shelly still wasn't sure I'd get my deposit back. The whole thing just stinks, both literally and figuratively. My advice is that if you're considering Windsor at Brookstone Village, think again and talk to people who have lived there in the past year! It's not worth the headache!
