I moved to cincy in 07 and didn't really know the city, so i thought brookstone was a good choice, which it served its purpose. It started out great, sweet organized all you can drink parties (no longer happen due to new management but the pool parties were so fun), but once i learned the city i realized this place kinda sucks. Cincy is in the top 10 cheapest cities for renters and this place charges over $1000/month for 2 bedrooms. Also, this used to be a great place for young professionals, but now their all leaving b/c new management sucks and canceled the parties. They are getting very desperate to find tenants and will try to entice you with one month free rent, don't buy it. They are so desperate they are hiring people to stand on the street conner in costumes dancing with signs that say free rent. The parties were one of the reasons i moved here in the first place. Old management used to be nice genuine people, new management is not so nice and are deceptive people. Plus their not so appealing to look at. If old management was still their i probably would be too.
Anyway, look around the city first. YOUNG PEOPLE- Or those who want a fun area, i highly recommend moving to the mount Adams area just outside of downtown. Ya, the location can be just as pricey as brookstone, but it has so much more for your money. There are several fun bars and numerous restaurants all within walking distance. Living here will save a ton of cab money in the long run. Cab ride is $20 from mt Adams to brookstone. I found a place larger than brookstones apartments in mt Adams, much nicer than brookstone, with three decks, private hot tub, and a great view of the river all for the same price as brookstone.
Remember- Cincinnati is in the top 10 cheapest cities for renters. Why pay more than you have too'

I could not agree more with the last 2 posts...i have also lived here for almost two years and am also leaving very shortly at the end of this lease. Once Windsor turned over ownership to the Connor Group this place has gone completely down hill. Maintenance is way sub-par to the old guys, they can hardly plow when it snows, mow when it grows, don't clean the club house or gym at all (ewww). They no longer have any resident events at all because they don't want to spend a dime of the rediculous rent they are charging tenants. Management are unprofessional hill jacks to say it nicely. Looking into the Conner Group, they are apparently a horrible management group with a history of soaking up money and failing to pay even their own bills. The Drexel is around the corner and 10 times nicer for the price. They have turned last years "best apartment community in Cincinnati" to ----. Beware.

These reviews are SPOT ON. I'm a young professional reloco to Cinci myself, moved here in 2007. Co-workers and people I know who used to live in Cinci recommended the Oakley area and Brookstone in particular. And IT WAS nice ... good management, a good group of neighbors who are generally at the same points in life, and opportunities with the management-sponsored parties to meet them. Yes, relatively expensive, but worth it in terms of professional management and the amenities.
Wow, things changed quick. It takes over two weeks to get a rather simple fix to a damn dishwasher fixed, over two months (!!!) to patch tire-eating pot-holes in the lot after a February snowstorm, and the resident events are history. Their communication with us lowly tenants sucks. The stuffed animals out front dancing around trying to draw new tenants (One month free rent) are horribly chintzy, and frankly, are the most visible sign of the times that the overall tenant demographic is already changing and will continue to. Not to sound snobby, but I'm paying a premium rent-wise above the general market rate, and it's no longer what I signed up for.
Oakley as a whole is a good, safe neighborhood for a newcomer looking to live close to a job downtown ... and is very near hot spots like Mt.Lookout, Hyde Park, etcetra ... and while I recommend the general area, you can do better than here.

As a current resident, I cannot agree more with these posts. The new management has been deplorable. I just got off the phone with the regional manager who informed me it is company policy to not water the grass! I hope any future residents like mud, 'cause the grass is not going to make it much longer - they haven't watered yet this year. Oh, and that refer a friend sign right when you pull out of the parking lot? A lie! I have referred two people in the last 3 months, hoping for a nice break on the rent, only to call the leasing office and find a leasing agent trying to act dumb! Who was it? When were they here? Her name was....they were here yesterday afternoon at 2 and are moving in next month. Who? I am not familiar with that person.
