Here is my story:
After calling Nautica/Jacobs investments (who is the owner of Lakeside, plus The Apartments at Nautica and Worthington Square Apartments) a couple times and leaving messages for "Susanne," the leasing agent, I wasn't getting any calls back regarding my pleas to come check out apartments. I knew that I had to talk to her in person if I ever wanted to find a place, so I was lucky enough to get her in person today and set up an appointment to see several properties at 2:00.
I spent a half hour driving downtown, found parking, and proceeded to wait outside the property for a half hour for Susanne to show up. After using the keypad outside to call the office to ask why there was no one there, I was told to "wait a few minutes for her to show up." I did -- and waited some more. While still making me wait outside, they gave me her cell phone number, telling me that they had "no idea where she was." I called her cell, left a message. Then did it again 20 minutes later. Clearly she had no interest in keeping the appointment, even though I expressly told her that this was the only day I would be in town available to see the apartment! I guess Jacobs/Nautica does not enjoy having _customers_ that pay them _money_. That's not what business is about, apparently...
I called the office afterwards, in an attempt to figure out what happened. After complaining about how unprofessional it was for her to skip my appointment, wasting my time and money to make me drive to see the place, the wonderful person answering the phone in the office _turned on me_, and blamed me for the problem.
"Sir, I don't know what you want us to tell you. I'm sure she had a good reason for missing your appointment. After all she is one leasing agent for 3 properties and sometimes has 20 appointments in one day. Maybe she was in a meeting or something." Apologies cost nothing, but apparently Jacobs is uninterested in making right with customers when instead they can illogically defend their own disrespectful behavior.
Needless to say, I am furious, and I encourage you not to do business with these people. As you can see by the one other review of this property, even he/she states that the management is worthless, which I now understand. Perhaps they should hire more people'' Or at least fire this one!
Please if you have any more stories like this, pile them on to the ratings here. And if you have something to refute/explain what happened, I would be happy to hear -- maybe it would lessen my anger some...

That shocks me - I have not had anything but GREAT experiences with Jacobs Investments. Suzanne was always helpful and did show up for all of our appointments. I did rent from Jacobs Investments and have had NO problems the five years I have lived in my apartment. I even have moved within the building to a bigger suite, which I expressed interest in and they were more than accomodating. Sorry you had a bad experience - but I am sure it was not done on purpose - and was stuck somewhere.
