Nice place to live

Lewis Manor is a nice place to live. The apartment has beautiful hardwood flooring, high ceilings, and a great heating system. The appliances are all fairly new and the shelves and cabinets are rustic (but well-maintained). Compared to many of the other apartment complexes in Cleveland Heights, this complex is very clean and safe. The bedrooms are also a decent size. There is a cleaning staff that comes in every weekday and they do an excellent job. The maintenence staff is also great, and they're friendly too!

Some complaints that I have about the complex though include parking, noise, apartment layout, and the office staff.

There is sometimes a parking issue with the unassigned spots in the outdoor lot. The underground parking garage, while never full, is scary. You must drive on a very steep driveway that leads under the building into an unlit, dirty garage.

Since the entire complex has hardwood flooring (and not everyone carpets their apartment), there is a ton of noise coming from above and below the apartment. Also, with the close proximity to Mayfield Road, there is a lot of traffic noise like ambulances, police sirens, and fire trucks.

The kitchen in the apartment is tiny. You can't even open the refrigerator entirely. The bathroom is also small, and unfortunately there was a window in our shower--we had to have a shower curtain on both sides of the bathtub.

The office staff is also difficult to get a hold of. If they do return your calls (which is rare), they often tell you to call back later to remind them. We never received our storage locker, nor were we transferred to an above-ground parking garage, despite numerous requests. However, maintenece requests were usually handled within 24 hours.

Depending on the side you are living on, the view can be beautiful or non-existant. If you face the courtyard, you pay more in rent but the view is beautiful. If you pay less, you usually face the road or the parking lot. We faced the parking lot. This also added to the noise factor, as well as dust/dirt coming in from the parking lot.

However, overall Lewis Manor is a nice place to live. The cleaning/maintenence staff (whom you see almost everyday) is great, the building is charming, and the apartment itself is in good condition and is also quite charming. If you never have to deal with the office staff, you're in good shape. I enjoyed living there for a year with a roommate and would have returned again, had it not been due to the cost of a one-bedroom apartment.
