For the short and sweet crowd I would not recommend this apartment because of management, maintenance, safety, and general upkeep.

For those who would like a little more:
Management Alan Pearlman is willing to be helpful and responsive until you sign the lease. He uses tenants first names when he shows the apartments making you feel as though it s a friendly place to live. However, after you have signed the lease I found that in order to get a response you must email him. There also seems to be problems with bills being paid, but more on that a little further down.

Maintenance and Cleaning Staff The staff is a couple and their daughter and I have heard them screaming obscenities up and down the hallway. The maintenance is hit or miss there were a few times that they took care of the problem immediately. Then there were a couple of problems that were ignored. Taken care: door off hinge (twice because it fell again) and water coming through the ceiling of the bathroom. Not taken care of: moldy bathmat (which I removed) and a drain that didn t line up with the tub and therefore was draining into (I believe) the basement.

Safety/General Upkeep Tenants received a notice that informed them that for safety reasons we were not to grant access to anyone whom we did not invite to the building specifically mentioned in the letter from management were fire and police personnel. Beyond this don t expect to get your mail every day because the mailboxes are behind locked doors to which the postal worker doesn t have a key. Therefore, the postal worker can t deliver the mail unless someone lets them in. There were at least two occasions over the winter when there were notices placed on the doors to the building stating that the gas (which is what heats the building) was going to be turned off for non-payment. The hallways were frequently dark because the lights were turned off or a bulb was blown. Although the first winter the driveways were well taken care of the second winter they were not. Similarly the back stairwell (to get to the laundry) was well taken care of the first winter and then the second I had to put salt down myself after almost falling on a solid sheet of ice. There are a few smaller things as well, but I hope I ve made my point so I ll leave it at this.

In fairness it is possible that some or all of these things have changed since I lived there, however, I haven t been gone that long.

Finally, I can t speak to what others have done, but when I moved in I took careful note (on the sheet provided add another if necessary) of anything and everything that I noticed was wrong and when I moved out I cleaned carefully and I did get my full security deposit back.

Well, it sounds like your complaints are very similar to what my brother experienced! I think Allen needs to take courses in "maintenance and common sense."
