Its really too bad...that its SO bad
From: -Anonymous-Date posted: 8/30/2008
Years at this apartment: 2008 - 2008
I lived in the building for several years, though my work took me away from Cleveland for months at a time during that period. I echo every comment already listed, with sadness.
- Promises made: As I've come to realize later, they verbally promise anything you want. Of course, NONE of those promises ever happened. In my case it was the "black box" space. I was told it was due for completion in January 2007. It hasn't even been started. I was told the other buildings on the street were going to be developed into studio spaces and other things. That would go a long way to reclaim some space in the neighborhood, but it never started.
- Gradual Decline: Whats worse, some of the perks that actually were present when I moved in have been stripped away. (For example: free party room & common space - no longer available to everyone or no longer free. Another example: on site building manager - there's still a building manager on site, but he'll be the first to admit he's spending most of his time on other properties!)
- Lie #1: went in looking for the "low end" at that time $625. I was told none were available, only to find out I was living in a low end unit at an increased price.
- Lie #2: the parking lot is very well maintained in the winter. I understand that Cleveland has trouble understanding how to deal with snow, in general, but there were days at a time (every year) when my car was snowed into the lot. The problem alluded them to the point where they tried to decrease the number of cars in the lot. Couples who had moved in together were suddenly only allowed to have one of their cars parked in the lot - not a good idea considering the car theft problem.
- Lie #3: friendly staff. Full disclosure here, some of the people I had problems with are no longer working there...but the new ones weren't any better. I just had less negative experiences with them because I left before they could repeat the problems. I had a friend staying with me and he accidentally locked himself out of the building while I was out. He called the building manager asking to be let back in. The building manager insulted and then ignored my friend, then later denied ever speaking with him. I had a major problem with my unit and asked maintenance to fix it. It was more than four days before they came to the unit, despite repeated requests. They said they never got my first requests. There were many other instances of deny and forget from the less than friendly staff.
Yes, I did leave. I would have left sooner, but took my time finding a new place. I wanted to be sure this time. I have no problems now.
