Overall, Kensington is a nice enough place to live. The building is fairly new (probably 10-12 years old), which has its own set of pros and cons. You have lots of modern conveniences, but most of the appliances (dishwater, A/C, refrigerator) are original to the building and should be updated. There is absolutely no character to the apartments (plain white boxes), but you rarely have to worry about noise.

There is ample outdoor parking, though it can be quite a trek to your apartment. The indoor parking is not heated and is really way too expensive considering the building isn't located in a densely populated area.

Utilities are an issue. Neither gas or electic are included and both can be quite steep year-round (all tenants pay part of the cost to heat "common areas", including the 8-story lobby and all hallways -- this really added a lot to my gas bills).

Lovely landscaping and a gorgeous rental office (hallways and other common areas are not as well-maintained as the rental office). It often made me wonder how much of my rent was going towards the decor.

Unlike previous posters, I found the maintenance staff to be helpful. They were always very nice and courteous. If you became friends with them, they would help you out however possible (on the flip side, if you were mean to them, they never forgot it). Certain members of the rental staff were wonderful and quite friendly. Other members were very difficult and many of my neighbors moved out just because of that. It's not worth it to have to deal with that kind of attitude in your own home, even if you are just a renter.

Again, overall it's a nice enough place. The price is way too steep and you can certainly find a larger, less expensive apartment in a more interesting area (the building in a shopping center and is across from a Home Depot and Walmart. Blech!). I only stayed one year and wouldn't recommend to a friend.
