Find Another Place!
From: -Anonymous-Date posted: 1/10/2006
Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2006
The great location with easy access to the freeway and proximity to downtown does not compensate for all the shortcomings of living at this apartment complex.
Do not take my word and before you sign anything take a walk around the facilities to see first hand the poorly kept grounds with dead trees, overgrown shrubs and cut off stumps that get minimum care throughout the year. The grounds are typically littered with empty beer bottles and dog feces. I actually cut my foot at the pool last summer when I stepped on broken glass! Do not miss checking out the dumpster site that looks like it belongs in the inner city instead of a high priced apartment complex.
The buildings look pretty worn out for an apartment complex that is only about 15 years old, but they obviously have received minimal maintenance over the years. A drive around the apartments at night would show many burned out lights on the breezeways to access the apartments, as well as dark parking lots where lights have been out for months. I had to wait almost a year to get my lights replaced and by that time it was down to 1 functioning light per floor! I actually cancelled a party last summer for fear that my guest would fall climbing the stairs in the dark. Even today as I am writing this review 2 of the 5 ceiling lights on my 3rd floor breezeway have not been replaced yet. Of course, expect slow response on your service requests, since I was without a clothes drier for over a month and I was still told to pay rent for it!
On weekends be prepared to wear earplugs in order to sleep, so you can muffle the noise of loud and unruly parties. Last month I opened my door to the unpleasant sight of broken bottles and vomit scattered all over the stairs and breezeway that provide access to my apartment. When I complained to the management I was told by the manager that they suspected who where the culprits. However, rather than taking action I was told to call the police next time, something I was hesitant to do, since I do not think is my job to deal with inebriated tenants, especially for the kind of money I am paying to rent in this place.
Finally, do not expect any kind of sympathy or consideration when you approach the current management with complains. It is inconceivable that they would expect that good tenants would pay premium dollars to be treated with contempt and indifference, but that is the way they operate these facilities. Needless to say that right now I am actively looking for another place to move as soon as my lease expires. In doing so I have discovered that there are plenty of other apartments in Columbus with great locations and excellent facilities for the same price or cheaper! In summary, I can hardly wait to finally say good-bye to Arbors of Watermark and hopefully this review would prevent others from making my same mistake of moving to this place!
