You folks complaining sound like a bunch of arrogant, pretentious snobs. I do not work at the complex. I never have. I worked at a publishing company and now for a printing company. I moved to the Estates at New Albany in 2003. I lived in building 1 on Legare Lane. I am not a petite blonde bimbo and I have no ties to the company.
I moved to the complex for reasons like many other parents; the New Albany Schools. Now that my only child has graduated, I am moving, only because I can get a larger place for less money and a school district is no longer an issue for me.
If you don't want to live around kids, don't move to a complex within a highly desirable school district. New Albany Schools are always rated Excellent by the Ohio Department of Education. Furthermore, a complex with 2 and 3 bedrooms and 2 and 3 bedroom townhouses are bound to rent to families with children.
During my 5 year stay, I received the best service, regardless of the management and staff. Last year, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. During chemotherapy and radiation, the staff offered to run to the drugstore for me if I needed anything. The day of my surgery, I noticed water dripping from my kitchen ceiling. A pipe had burst in the empty unit above me. I called the office and explained I was en route to the hospital. By the time my dad and I were leaving for the hospital, someone from maintenance was walking to my apartment to assess the situation. The repair was all done the next day when I returned home from the hospital. Later, they painted the portion of the wall that was water damaged.
Each time I renewed my lease, I had my carpet cleaned. This was always done within a few days of my request.
Also, when my old, confused mother accidentally threw her purse in the trash compactor, Jason in maintenance took on the task of climbing into the compactor to retrieve the purse for her!
Each time I had a maintenance request, it was handled promptly. In rare cases when I didn't receive service, I simply called again and the repair was promptly made.
This complex has always supplied pet waste bags and disposal bins. Yet, residents neglect to pick up after their pets. At one point, a flier was sent warning residents of a $50 fine for those not cleaning up after their pets. So what if the bins are full' Many complexes don't even PROVIDE bins and bags. Some complexes have weight restrictions on pets. This one allows large pets.
I was told from day one my rent would be due ON THE FIRST DAY of the month with NO grace period. I managed to pay rent on time with no additional fees for 5 years on a SINGLE income. Folks need to get their priorities in order. If you don't pay on time, you face late fees, just like you would with a credit card. Pay your Visa one day after the due date and you're get socked with a late fee in the range of $30. This is no different.
Each time I used the exercise room, all equipment was in working order. If something was broken, it had to be fixed immediately. I never went to the exercise room and saw half of the equipment broken.
The allegation that snow was never plowed is bull. They have always plowed during snowfall. I'd see one truck followed by another. And they'd make repeated trips. Maintenance men would salt the walkways as well.
Each month, the staff holds an activity for residents, providing food, snacks, beverages and an activity at no charge. Some mornings, as I hurried to work, I was greeted with staff members, offering me breakfast goodies; muffins, donuts, juice, etc.
I Prior to moving to The Estates At New Albany, I lived around the corner at The Enclave at Albany Park, which was managed by Triangle Real Estate at the time.
Triangle has an unsatisfactory rating with the Better Business Bureau. The BBB has received 56 complaints in the past 36 months from Triangle. In addition, Triangle was featured on 6 On Your Side and Channel 10 Consumer Report stories.
By contrast, The Estates at New Albany is a MEMBER of The Better Business Bureau, has a satisfactory rating and has had 1 complaint in the past 36 months. If all of the complaints here have merit, then why aren't there more complaints with the BBB'''''' Apparently, these are exaggerations and/or outright lies.
The problem is that we live in a rude, obnoxious, "I want everything NOW" world. Sometimes you have to wait for things. You are not the only resident. Look how big the complex is. And whoever called maintenance for them to change the battery in the detector is a lazy fool. All you need to do is stand on a chair. I have never called maintenance to change the battery in the smoke detector. If my son and I can do it, I'm sure anyone else could. You deserve to wait and listen to the annoying chirp of the detector if you're too lazy to change it. Apparently the noise, combined with your dog's whining wasn't enough to make you get off your lazy butt and change the battery yourself. GEEZ!!!!!
If you don't like the Estates at New Albany, there are plenty of other interesting complexes to move to. Some come complete with daily gunfire, slashed tires and meth labs. And there are plenty of Realty companies who will file civil suits for being late on rent.
Yes, the garbage disposal is loud, but the damn thing works!
This was MY experience at The Estates At New Albany.

Uhh.. It's been 5 months since anyone rated it, maybe you should calm down a bit. But you are right about one thing, there's always the meth labs instead.
