Beautiful place to live, high prices

Years at this apartment: 2001 - 2002
We have lived at The Farms for one year. Pros and cons:
Cons:
1) The mini-lake is overgrown with algae, turning a beautiful body of water into sludge. They may be fixing this, as it was perfect up until very recently.
2) There is only one trash dumpster at the back of the complex, so you have to load up your car with your garbage and drive to it.
3) The rent is quite high for the area.
4) We have problems with the water in our pipes. There is apparently mold running in the pipes which you smell when you initially start the shower or faucet. It clears in about 10 seconds or so, but it is a little gross (and orange). If we go away for the weekend there are orange mold streaks in the shower and the toilet.
5) No recycling.
Pros:
1) The apartments are brand new and have the best floor plans around. Spacious and well-designed. Lots of closet space.
2) Nice sized patios and balconies perfect for grilling out, watching the fountains, etc.
3) Beautiful water views (though they are more expensive), and the clubhouse/pool area is very well-maintained (it's a big selling point).
4) We live on the top floor and have had very good luck as far as noise insulation goes. Pleasantly surprised.
5) Vaulted ceilings on top floors a huge plus.
6) No pest or rodent problems.
7) Pretty good maintenance speed/service. Very friendly.
8) Feel very safe in the area.
9) Good proximity to a shopping mall and about 5 minutes to the freeway.
10) Washer/dryer hookups plus a laundry facility.
Overall, if you can fit it into your budget this place is great. I would avoid the apartments right inside the gates as people use up the parking spots for the pool during the summer.
