I moved into Grant-Oak in the middle of summer and have absolutely loved it. The management is kind (although some people seem to mistake "professional" as "cold and uncaring" but they are genuinely nice, just matter-of-fact) and I have never had a problem with them. My apartment isn't state-of-the-art or anything, but you get what you pay for. Everything has held up nicely and functions. Rent is low for downtown. The grounds are clean and neat. Parking is an issue though. There is no where for visitors to park, and I have to pay FOURTY dollars to park in the library parking garage (which is secured, gated, and across the street, which is nice), but their contract with the library is per month. So, if the library decides not to renew the lease, YOU'RE SCREWED. You have to park several streets away in a free-for-all city parallel parking, where there have been MANY break-ins. My passenger window was smashed and the entire console was ripped out, broken, and left on my floor (he took the radio). Sometimes it feels a little unsafe walking to my apartment (the library across the alley is completely filled with homeless men) but I've never had a problem and don't know anyone who has, just the occasional asking for change, but never hostile. Sadly, I had to break my lease and move out early. I wish I didn't have to!
