I moved into Northwoods because I work in one of the offices in front of the apartments and I am so, so happy that I did. My favorite things are:
1. The space: We have a 1 bdrm w/ den and it is nearly 1,000 sqft. It's hard to find that much space for around $600.
2. The view: Our balcony overlooks the ravine, so all we see is trees.
3. The neighborhood: The traffic kind of sucks, but its nice being so close to so much; everything seems to be within a couple of miles. Plus, they're behind a bunch of nice office buildings kind of tucked away, so there's no through traffic. I'm pretty paranoid and I've always felt safe here.
4. Maintenance: When our AC broke, they came the next day and took care of it. They also do routine maintenance check ups where you can hang a form on your door telling them what you'd like done (even simple stuff like hanging a painting) and they'll do it for you. They also seem to take really nice care of the grounds.
5. Pet Friendly: They fenced off a large portion of grass and trees for a dog park. It's really convenient and a big plus when you have an energetic dog in your apartment. The other residents do a nice job of keeping it clean too.
6. Efficient: I think the fact that the apartments are in controlled buildings helps to regulate the temperature. We hardly used our heat this winter, and averaged $50/mth in gas bills. Plus there are wood burning fireplaces which I guess don't really offer a lot of heat, but are nice to look at.
7. Quiet: Our neighbor across the hall has a large black lab with seperation anxiety. She barks all the time when she's by herself, but luckily, we can't hear a thing in our apartment. Also, there's very little traffic, so it stays pretty quiet.

Overall I just feel very happy with living here. Sure, it's not the biggest or the nicest apartment possible, but its a great apartment in a nice neighborhood for not a lot of money. The people are nice, the staff is nice, and the apartments are well maintained.
