I have lived in numerous apartments since moving to Columbus in 1998 and have never had such a horrible apartment renting experience. I have lived in a two bedroom apartment since July of 2004 and cannot wait to leave. Only two more weeks!! After threatening to take legal action they have let us out our lease a month early.
Our problems with River Oaks started before we even moved in. We were told one monthly rate then when it came time to come in and sign the paperwork, suprise, suprise, the rent was $100 more a month. After numerous phone calls and inconvenient visits to the rental office this issue was finally settled.
Come move in day we discovered that our apartment had not been cleaned since the last tenants. After reporting this to the rental office, and given attitude for some odd reason, we had to wait several hours for someone to show up and clean the apartment.
After living here about 3 months the pipes in the walls began to clank and wake us up at night-every night. This sound now occurs in both the master bedroom and in the 2nd bathroom which can be heard in both bedrooms. That's right, it is still happening b/c River Oaks will not do anything about it. When this originally occured and we were unable to sleep in the master bedroom, we were told there was nothing they could do and that we needed to just go sleep in the other bedroom. The maintenance workers here are just about as incompetent as it gets. They don't listen to what you are actually saying and generally talk down to you. Most importantly they have no idea how to fix or resolve problems.
The idea of customer service is lost on the people who run River Oaks. Once when speaking with the property manager on the phone she rudely told me the "proper way" to talk on the phone. This after asking her not to interupt me after she was doing so when aswering her questions about the above noisy pipes.
In fact, just this week we were told to clear our decks and balconies for power washing that would occur on Monday. Suprise, suprise this did not happen on Monday. So I put my grill back out on the patio. Two days later, some sort of powerwashing occurs (it looked like about half the deck was cleaned), and dirt is thrown up into the burners on my grill and I now have to take it apart to try and fix it.
You've probably got the point by now, this place is not worth the headaches!!! Horrible customer service, basically no maintanance, the parking lots are a mess, noisy walls and floors, and the apartments need serious work overall.
..2 more weeks!!!!!!!

I agree and AGAIN like everyone else you are saying a managment problem....Really if people move here you will be in for a head ache. We thought WHAT a good deal. With every good deal there is a catch. Trust me it is not worth the managment.
