Does anyone know ----'s last name' I'm going to be writing a complaint letter to the better business bureau and also the Columbus Dispatch. I have been trying to get my security deposit back for the last six months.

I got my deposit back within 30 days, did you get a letter letting you know if you were going to get anything back? Maybe instead of going on here asking for peoples names you should just call the office and find out if you owe anything. That is the only reason I can think of that you would not have gotten your deposit back. I lived at river for 2 years before I bought a house and I loved it there, the office staff was alway nice and if I had any issues I would just go up and talk to them and they would help me with what they could. If I ever need to go back to an apartment I would choose them again and I would refer my friend there to.

I have called several times, and each time they say they will send the deposit in the mail. At this point I don't think that they honestly have any intentions of sending me a letter or giving me my deposit back.

I had the same problem. It wasn't until I threatened to have my lawyer contact them. I finally received my check a week later. BTW, there is already negative comments on the BBB's website for Avalon Oaks and River Oaks. Good luck.

The Ohio Revised Code requires landlords to account for the security deposit and return any refunds to the tenant within 30 days after termination of the lease, as long as the tenant provides the forwarding address. if they fail to comply a tenant can be entitled to double the amount wrongfully withheld
