my experience: my leasing lady (they fired her, but her name is Barbara) was very nice, very negotiable because i was busy at work and had little time to follow through on picking keys up and dropping off my deposit and such. the showing was a really nice cover over the filth that is actually Riverlodge Apartments. Barbara was the only nice person there, trust me.

anyway, moving in: plenty of parking. they say they'll tow those without a parking pass, but they don't. i've never seen anyone towed in the year i lived there, and i always let my friends park in the lot. walls are thin. i always heard my next door AND upstairs neighbor. it was hard to sleep at night. the staff say they'll talk to them after you fill out a complaint. but they don't. or they do and your neighbors just get louder, because, let's face it, it's not exactly a mystery to see who filed a complaint.

there's a security system for all buildings, but it's useless. many doors in the buildings are so messed up from random tenants that all you have to do is pull the door hard enough and the lock undoes itself. maintenance: most of those people shouldn't even be maintenance crew members. they do it so they don't have to pay rent. it took them three months to fix something in my apartment. by the time i moved out, they FINALLY got it done. i'm sure they meant well, but they didn't know what they were doing.

it's scary at night. it's partly the poorly lit parking lot, and it's also because there's random groups of guys always hanging around all over Riverlodge. not to be prejudice, but they're always black. i don't make the stereotypes, i just see them! they're not exactly harmless. some are hiding from the cops (thankfully, police are aware of that, so they're always up and down BroadGhettos--i felt a little safer with them there), some don't have jobs, but their girlfriends live there and they don't have to pay for anything because---never mind, that's just what they do. all the decent tenants are in hiding. cuz we're all scared out of our minds of all the people that make this place so freaking horrible.

my friends were scared to come at night. my neighbors were creepy and were ALWAYS high. call me racist, but i think this is where you'll probably find the same hood rats here in family services for a check every month. i didn't know what i was getting into when i moved here. too dark and too dangerous for my taste.

if you're a hood rat on welfare and have five kids and don't wanna do anything for yourself, you'll fit right in. or if you have a warrant in your name...you're probably hiding at your girl's apartment on broadghettos. don't let the "great price" fool you. shell out the extra hundred or couple hundred to live elsewhere so you can keep yourself safe and your home quiet.
