Make sure that you read the lease before signing it!

They charged the pet deposit ($300) with the first month's rent but did not write it down on the lease as the lease was signed earlier.
Now we have no proof of the pet's rent because my bf used direct deposit, and he did not save his bank statements that was a year ago.
Now they refused to refund that $200 pet deposit ($100 not refundable) as it was not written on the lease.
It was a scam! They might as well charge $40 for pet rent instead of $25! All in all, make sure you read the lease and ask them to write down every single deposit that you put in as they will screw you over if you don't! Also they raised more than 10% in rent for renewal.
