"No really...it's nice now...we painted it."

First and foremost, everything I am about to state is factual and based on my own experience at Sterling Place and in no way am I INSTRUCTING any potential resident on what choice to make when it comes to renting from The Connor Group.
The day my roommate and I were to sign our lease, I found this site along with several complaints against Sterling Place. At the time, we thought maybe it was a couple disgruntled people letting off steam and didn??t think much about it. I had been renting from apartments since 1997 and felt secure in my own judgment.
Upon moving in, my roommate and I were VERY detailed on the inspection checklist listing numerous things in each area that we felt needed attention. Some of these we were willing to live with, but we did write a separate sheet of things that needed immediate repair. To give an idea on how long one thing took to be repaired??I raised concern about a bathroom fan not working and mentioned it twice within the first two weeks -- it was fixed 6 months later. In fact, one time my bathtub faucet handle broke and I couldn??t turn on the water to take a bath or shower (I had to use my roommate??s). When no one was responding to the messages I left I went into the office and found that the girl I left the message with never put it in the maintenance log! That took 6 weeks to repair.
The ??spa?? has not been functional since we have moved in and it looks as though it??s been that way for the better part of two years at least. The ??workout facility?? has a couple new machines but the room itself is dingy and leaves nothing to be desired ?? hardly motivating for a workout. It seems as though they think ??painting over the bad parts?? fixes everything they have wrong internally.
If you call to speak with them about something, they RARELY answer the phone. Like several other people have noted, the staff who works there is rude and very unprofessional. One of the girls at the front desk even interrupted my conversation with her about maintenance issues to answer her cell phone for a personal call.
All I would ever seem to get from the staff were EXCUSES on why things were not fixed in a reasonable amount of time. There is a streetlight in the parking lot that has been out since we moved in 7 months ago, and I have made numerous comments to the staff about it. They told me AEP was ??working on it.?? I guess never mind our safety??as long as they??re ??working on it.??
The kicker was when 4 cars were recently broken into in one night. I feel this was a result of the poor lighting. Cars parked in dark areas are more susceptable to break-ins.
In all the places I have lived in the past 9 ?? years, this is by far the worst in terms of repairs and concern for the residents. Please, for your own good, do your homework before considering signing anything. If you don??t believe me??take a drive through on a Sunday evening or Monday morning. Look at the overflowing dumpster and the INOPERABLE blue and red vehicles at the entrance (the blue one even has a busted out back window and missing plates.) Talk to other residents there, I??m sure more out there share the same opinion. See for yourself.
