Inspection' or Sales pitch'

The leasing office contacted me and asked me if someone could inspect my apartment. She said it was a standard procedure that they do when the lease is about to expire. Of course, I agreed to let her inspect my apartment.
When the inspection time came, a lady from the leasing office walked into my apartment and said "Hi, I would like to do a quick inspection." I gave her a go ahead. The inspection took about 30 seconds (she said that the apt was well taken care of), the rest was a sales pitch. She even brought the new lease. She said that she only had a number of early bird specials, so if I signed then on the spot, my rent would ONLY increase $35, otherwise it would be something around $80. I said I had to think about it. She tried to have me sign it by saying, among other things, "Oh, these early birds won't be here forever." She somewhat put pressure on me to sign it right then and the funny thing was that my lease wouldn't expire in 4 months. The lease says that I need to give a 60-day written notice. I know they're desperate to fill up the units, but asking to sign another lease when you still have 4 months is just too soon. I really didn't appreciate the fake inspection gimmick while the real purpose was to have me sign another year of lease.
Also, there were car breakins. I talked to the residents whose car was broken into. When the incident was reported, the office only said "Oh I'm sorry." Nothing was recorded or written down.
This apartment is so overpriced. Try other places in the area. There are MANY MANY other apartments around Sterling Place. mgFDbN4-dhkSMZ7zRmVH

They will also raise your rent through water/trash/sewer. They won't tell you about it. You will just recieve the increased water bill and when you question it, they will tell you that it was in your old lease as well as your new checked off as OTHER on the trash memorandum. They will even try to make it sound like you got some reward or something since the past office personnel did not put it in the computer sooner. They tell you that they are not going to make you pay for those past months that you have been getting away with not paying for it. So now you will be paying general electric along with the water/trash/sewer and anything else they decide to add through the year that is OTHER. It is kind of scarry to wonder what OTHER will encompass next.

Mine was one of the four cars recently broken into and I was upset at the poor excuse I got about crime "not having an address." Rather than notifying residents of this situation and advising people to keep an eye out, I was ignored. Because of this, I chose to exercise my freedom of speech and got an eviction threat. I guess I should just go back to being a sheep and keep my mouth shut so I don't have to break my lease. "Baa!"
