Nice Place' (7/15/04)
From: -Anonymous-Date posted: 8/27/2003
Years at this apartment: 2002 - 2003
I didn't realize that when I made a second post that it would just replace my first post. The Reader's Digest version of my first post is... Templeton sucks. I checked back on this web site and saw that some crazy person called Templeton a "Nice Place." I felt I had to respond. I don't know where to begin... so I'll just cut and past from his/her post and then respond.
"Timpelton Crossing is a nice place to live!"
They later mention that they have lived there for three years... so after three years they don't know that the place is called Templeton, not Timpelton' Weird.
"Crawford Communities is a very good management company. Some people just need to understand that apartment living is juat that apartment living."
I have done 'apartment living' for the past 8 years and I've never had the problems I had while living at Templeton.
"You cant pick you neighbors..."
I realize I can't pick my neighbors I just assumed I wouldn't be living next to a one bedroom apartment with 10 -------- in it. I never thought that stereotype was true until I moved to Templeton.
"...and the management company does the best they can without breaking any laws. Thats right there are laws call Fair Housing that say that as long as you are financelly approved with no criminal background you have to be approved."
Did you know that the Fair Housing Act actually gives grants as incentives to companies that rent to low income people. It states it in much more legal jargon then I just said... but it's true. But I don't think there is anything in the Fair Housing Act that states that you have to open up your apartments to Devry as student housing. That only shows that Templeton doesn't care about their residents. Oh, and 'financelly''
"If you dont want to live next to someone buy a house!!"
That's just a stupid statement. If I could afford to buy a house... do you think I would be living in an apartment' Duh.
"The remarks you have read that are bad are just from residents that didnt get their way in some way or another! They probably didnt diserve to either!"
If by 'didn't get their way' you mean the fact that I didn't get to live in a clean, safe, well managed and quite apartment community like I wanted to... then yes, you are correct. And 'diserve'' Dude, use spell check.
"I have lived here for 3 years and love it, when I move out I will have $3600 in a down payment for a new home thanks to Crawford and their rent to own program!"
That $3600 is only good towards a home built by Crawford. And if their houses are anything like their apartments (over priced and poorly built) then their rent to own program isn't that good of a deal.
If you've read this far, then you probably won't mind reading just a little more so that I can tell you a story as an example of how bad their management is.
When I signed my lease for 14 months I got one month free rent and a free washer and dryer. I was told that the washer and dryer should be in the apartment by the time I move in (2 weeks later.)
I moved in... no washer/dryer. I inquire and they tell me I should get it within a week.
Two weeks go by... no washer/dryer. I inquire again... I was told just a few days.
Another week goes by... no washer/dryer. I was told there was some sort of foul up with the paper work and that I should have it in one to two weeks.
Another two weeks go by.... guess what' No washer/dryer.
To make a very long story short(er), after 2 1/2 months I received a USED washer and dryer. And then a month after that I finally got my brand new washer and dryer. So it took 3 1/2 months to get a washer and dryer that I was told would probably be there when I moved in.
Granted in the 14 months I was there, they went through 3 different management teams and have probably gone through two or three more since then... but I think that story is pretty typical of the quality you can expect from the management.
