Let?s start with a review of the apartments themselves. From the outside they look nice. You won?t see any broken windows, rotting wood, or pieces of the roof falling off. The grounds are well kept when there is no snow or ice. Parking was never a problem for me, although you should be aware that people will park wherever they want. In almost two years there I saw some ridiculous parking situations. People will park SUVs and pickup trucks along the curves. Talk about stupid. It turns the curve into one lane and creates a horrible blind spot. People will park consistently right in front of their units at all times of the day or night. Never mind the fact that there are 10 open spaces less than 100 feet away. That becomes a major problem in the winter when there is snow. When the plows do come through, they make a few passes straight down the middle. They don?t plow the general parking areas, nor do they remove any snow from in front of the garages. Thus when people park in front of the units, and there is snow, and the poor plowing? well you get the picture. It?s a mess. Make sure you keep a snow shovel around.

The apartments on the inside are adequate. I made several friends over the time I lived there and saw quite a few of the different layouts. The appliances are generally in good shape. The carpets wear well. There are plenty of electrical outlets. You control your own heating and cooling. The water pressure was never a problem for me. The walls and insulation get failing grades. In fact, if there wasn?t a state law, I would have a hard time believing that the walls had any insulation at all. You will definitely hear your neighbors, and they will hear you. The walls are not paper thin but not very thick at all. In addition the windows are horrible. They close and lock but the seals are awful. Someone mentioned in a previous post about the wind blowing and seeing the blinds move when the windows are closed. I concur with that statement. Because the walls are thin and lack sufficient insulation, and the windows poor, your utility bills will skyrocket in the heating season.

They do a good job of keeping the grounds looking decent. Although I don?t know if the management does it or actually hires a landscape company. There is a pool. If you want to sit by the pool to get sun, you?ll be fine. But I would definitely not ever go in the water. I?ve heard about and even witnessed a couple of ?incidents? that were nasty. Kids are plenty in the complex, but they really have no place to play outdoors. You have to be careful driving around because in the spring and summer months they have no place to play except the parking lots.

I had only a couple of instances where I needed contact with the maintenance staff. The buildings are starting to show some wear so they are a busy group. They are friendly and very efficient.

The office staff is probably the worst part of the living experience. I don?t know this for a fact, but I personally believe all they really care about is making sure the units are rented. While I understand that is a goal for the company who owns the property, they need to care about the needs and the people who are already renting. There is at least a staff of three people and for the most part, they are ineffective and inexperienced. I know of several instances where residents received conflicting information from the office staff. One of the running jokes among the residents is ?Go to the office three times, talk to three people, get three different answers.? They severely lack the skills needed to communicate on a professional level.
