When preparing to relocate to Columbus for my new job, I searched all over for a nice, affordable, clean, pet friendly apartment on the north end. I too have to admit I was luered by the pretty landscaping, fountain filled ponds, and "Royal Gold Drive address". However. When you get past the asthetics and talk business with the leasing office, good luck.
You will get ten different prices, from three different people all in one day. Forget talking to a manager - you'll only get more run around on lease prices. You can't get a straight answer from these people if they were under oath! Think you found a coupon deal in an apartment guide' Even the current month's issue' They won't honor the coupon - they'll say 'it's expired .. that was only for last Thursday, .. when the moon was full, and the humidity was 67%" (WHATEVER!). You would think that if you paid premium rent, you would get a premium place to live, right' Well, you must choose if you want to have a view of asphalt, or a pond.. and if you want a garage your only choice is to view asphalt.. even if you choose the highest rent for a three bedroom. Attatched garage with opener is what they advertise - they do not however inform you that the opener is circa 1976 and it may or may not work - as seen on the 'tour' I went on with the leasing agent.
When one red flag after another went up during my 'tour' I decided to keep looking. What I found, was that right next door there is another apartment complex, while not as fancy as Gardens, (but certainly still nice - and newer - only 10 years old)has all the amenities Gardens offers for $100-400 less per month. The garages aren't attatched, but they are available to every tenant ($35/mo extra- but worth not having to shovel snow). Pets stay FREE!!! - no extra deposit, no extra 'pet rent' (dogs up to 25 lbs, or two cats allowed) Nice,new,clean Washer/Dryer FREE in EVERY apartment-if they break management will fix ASAP. Nice views out the windows are commonplace - there are four ponds. The leasing people are more than willing to work with you as long as you communicate with them (after signing my lease - I lost my job - I was terrified - but they worked with me every step of the way!!) The maintainence gentlemen are VERY courteous, prompt, polite and offer to take their shoes off when they come in!! Fitness center membership is included with lease. At first glance, the pool looks small from the outside, but when you enter the pool gate, it's much larger, certainly big enough for grown adults to enjoy and cool off (by the way generally they open the pool beginning April 1st - no waiting for labor day!) Kids play here, but parents are advised to supervise them, and it seems management keeps a good watch over this, so its never been a problem. Heating and cooling bill is very reasonable - (all electric -AEP). Neighbors are generally courteous and respect eachothers privacy. Any noise issues are addressed by management. You're allowed to pain and customize your apartment any way you want as long as you return it to original condition when you leave. Try it.. Summerview Apts 614-785-0500. I've been here two years and I'm not sorry I didn't rent at Gardens.

We had a 3 bedroom with a garage and our view was of a lovely pond and landscaping - not asphalt. This reviewer is mistaken.

The reviewer must work at Summerview (hense the shameless advertising including the phone number at Summerview) as A LOT of the information they gave about the Gardens at Polaris is inconsistant and incorrect...The Gardens is a lovely community!

Nope, sorry I dont work at summerview - I work at OSU. Feel free to read many of the other reviews.. others agree with what I had to say. No one said it wasn't a "lovely community" ... you were told don't be seduced by the good looks.
