It Could Be Decent

I lived in two different apartments at Village West.

The first apartment was a two bedroom with my girlfriend on the side closest to 1st (beside the Retirement Home) and it was in pretty bad shape. The bedroom window and sliding glass door leaked horribly. It would soak the living room carpet a good 6 inches into the apartment and the bedroom wall was covered in mold. I can even remember a few times rain would hit me when I was laying in my bed. Right? That should just not happen. We tried to get maintenance to fix the issue but they didn't seem to care because it never got done.

The other apartment was also a two bedroom and it was located in the building to the far right after you pull in the entrance. It seemed like a better apartment, but only because it didn't leak.

Overall, it's an OK place, if you get the right apartment. I wouldn't say rule it out, just take a good look at everything in the apartment. It's a good price and is tolerable for the most part. Mainly, it's just like every other apartment complex I have seen in the area. Just don't expect maintenance to give a crap or be able to find a parking place and it should be okay.

Some other issues we had:
-We never got a code for the laundry room no matter how many times we asked.
-Parking is horrible. Only two or three actual guest spots, but people let their friends park anywhere so actual tenants have to park on the street and walk. I have even seen people park there to walk to a Buckeye game. Oh, and parking during comfest or pride week is horrible.
-The entrance way is extremely dangerous. It is barely big enough for two cars and people will fly around the corners (going in and out) and into the tunnel thing. Most of the time they are in the middle of the road and you almost get hit.
-The patio's are generally in poor condition. Ours had a gigantic crack in the pavement and the fence was in bad condition.
-The bathrooms would constantly flood. Not a little bit, but as in inches of water and the carpets being soaked for a good 3-4 feet around.
-The toilets would routinely quit working. Good thing we had two! One was always out of order.
-The bathroom door would not unlock and you would basically have to kick yourself out. If this happens to you, just turn the handle and pull the opposite way from where it latches and kick the bottom!
-There is dog ---- everywhere.
-They landscapers show up before the sun rises to make sure you get woken up.
-The light sockets seem off, I kept replacing light bulbs and they would blow within a week or two.

Some of the better aspects:
-I never heard my neighbors.
-The pool is pretty cool, especially if you jump the fence at night and use it when no one is there. Oh, but they blast the pool music so loud you can hear it from inside your apartment even if your head is covered by pillows as you clinch and beg for it to stop. Maybe the pool isn't a total plus...
-It seems pretty safe.
