Let's see....where shall I start' While I was a tenant there, I witnessed several break-ins of peoples' cars right outside on the street corner just feet away from the premises, including my car twice. I witnessed one crime committed inside the building, and was a victim of two crimes in the building when certain individuals committed attempted burglary twice, once by cutting the electricity in the middle of the night by shutting off the floor breaker and trying to enter my apartment, and the other time, an individual late in the night just went up to my door and I heard them trying to jiggle my door handle. When I called management about the situation, my call was not returned. When I seen management out and about, nothing was said to me about the situation. It was only later I found out through talks with maintenance that management had negligently failed to get the building keys back from a former tenant, and somehow the keys got into thieves' hands. What did maintenance say about the situation' I was told that if you see the person again, tell him that management wants the keys back. Does that sound like a place you want to stay at' Also, my next door neighbor, after only living there one year, witnessed two crimes, one inside the building and one right outside. This individual witnessed one right outside that woke this person up because a crack head was outside throwing a brick through someone's car window at 3 in the morning and he took a brief case from the front seat of the car. Guess what I saw the next morning' Glass all over the sidewalk and the funny part was that the brick was still laying there on the ground right smack in front of the complex only feet away from the leasing office. Oh...I forgot to mention, in the laundry room, some crack head crooks did not bother just to take change from the washing machines, they somehow broke off and took the whole top of the machines!
As soon as you step out of the door on most occassion, bums beg you for money, especially the ones that sleep in the park next door to the complex. Don't be fooled by the nice looks of the park because half of the time, you cannot walk there and enjoy the beauty of it without having crack heads beg you for money or scaring the heck out of you when they talk to themselves and sometimes even scream to themselves in a manner like preachers do. Believe me, that gets very scary when walking to the complex at night.
I also witnessed tenants loitering outside, drinking alcohol, and kicking a newspaper stand having a blast, although management had specifically said in the past for tenants not to loiter. Across the street, I witnessed individuals who are part of the same complex (tenants) drinking on the porch sometimes at night, and one night, one of them passed out right in the middle of the lawn.
And the big kicker is that in response to the frequent break ins, maintenance said that management had an idea who may be behind some of the break ins (a current tenant to be exact), and that they were keeping an eye on him and maintenance also said that he only had a month or so left on his lease and that management was not going to allow him to renew his lease. Shall I say where managment's interests were' As far as I know, the man was not questioned or anything. And why would he be' It is obvious all management wanted was for the storm to blow over before any tenant found out that break-ins were going on by someone on the inside of the building, much less by someone on the outside. If you desire safety, and if you want to rent from a place that does not place money interests over tenant safety, I suggest you do not rent here.
As far as the place itself, that must be left for another day because there is not enough time in the world...
