I lived in the Wandotte Village Apartment community about ten years ago for a period of less than one year. I bought my way out of my lease, citing insect infestation, neighbor relation issues, and crime worries. The apartment itself, for the price, was of reasonable size and condition. Vaulted ceilings in my top floor apartment were nice, but the electric bill in the summertime was $300 per month due to the huge windows. Despite the decent size of my 1-bedroom, the living conditions that surrounded it were borderline absurd. Domestic violence, drug sales and use, and theft were prevealant on the grounds and in the adjacent apartments. The geographic location was, at the time, going through a transition from a bustling shopping and dining area to a neighborhood in decline as businesses closed up and moved elsewhere. I recently visited Wyandott Village, ten years after I lived there, and as could be expected the place was a nightmare. Let's just say that the transition I spoke about has long passed...this is a terrible neighborhood. In summary, if you just got out of the joint and are looking for a place to shack up and get your crack business rolling again...grab up one of the two bedrooms for a couple hundred bucks a month and sell to your neighbors. If you're a student, blue-collar worker, or other functioning member of society looking for a deal...live on campus. It ain't great, but it's better than this sh*thole. Oh, yeah. The maintenance guys like to check out your place when they think you're not home. Caught the fat bastard one time.
