I have lived at Portage Towers a year now. Recently a new company took over the apartments and things have gotten MUCH worse. Here's a list of just a few of the perks of living here since the new management arrived.

- The people who answer the phone in the front office are extremely rude.
- Water shutoffs continue to happen weekly, but now they last for longer than the 4 hours they used to. If you call downstairs to politely ask if they know when the water will be back on,you're told "I have no idea" in a hateful tone over and over again until you hang up.
- The new people don't fix the garage doors so now bikes and cars get broken into and stolen because they leave the garage doors open for long periods of time.
- Speaking of the garage, it is damp and disgusting and even though you pay $25 a month for it, your car is just as likely to get damaged or vandalized in it as on the outside.
- Repairs aren't taken seriously by the office staff and it often requires multiple requests to get anything done. (I think the maintenance guys themselves are fine and helpful).
- They used to do background checks on new tenants. It's clear they don't now, given the rise in thefts, noise complaints, and the frequency with which I see the cops parked outside the building.
- If you have a package in the front office, the office staff will tell you they haven't seen it and act annoyed when in reality they misplace the packages.

My advice: Run like hell! You're better off living pretty much anywhere else but here.
