We live in another building owned by Niederst Properties and we have been without water twice, without gas (heat & stove & hot water) once and they keep changing the rules. The maintence office won't do anything and when you call they say they will get on it and they don't. They renovated this place also and it looks ugly. It is a nightmare and not worth the time or the money. They also keep going through office staff and you never seem to talk to the same people twice! SEk1KnECheF1ATXbXtrZ

Note: this person lived at another Niederst property that underwent a multimillion dollar renovation, so I believe the comments are not geared towards Portage Towers. Unfortunately this resident was not happy with the construction process, or the end result of the lobby. Now there is a fountain, fireplace, marble floors, cherry walls and copper inlaid 24 foot tall ceilings (Most people find the lobbies of our apartments beautiful!)

Yes, the gas and water was shut off to install new boiler systems. This is to create a new reliable and more efficient system. We all know that the price of gas has more than doubled in the past 18 months. In order to keep rents down, new boilers are installed to reduce the costs of running the buildings. It is sometimes difficult to make such major upgrades to a complex without inconveniencing our residents. Every Niederst property has major upgrades ??? Portage Towers is also receiving new lobbies, exterior improvements, landscaping, hallways, etc. I am not sure how to answer the comment made about changing office staff at Portage Towers since there are 4 people in the office and we have only made one change since we took over. Again, I think that the original comment is geared towards another property and that property has two offices and the staff floats between the two offices until a new single office is finished being built.

Sincerely,

Mark Niederst
