Disappointing, Frustrating

I recently moved to the Dayton area from out of state and was excited to find a loft much like the one I was moving from. Although downtown Dayton leaves much to be desired, it was exciting to see some movement toward change. I've been in the Cannery for 3 months and I want to move so badly that I'm nearing a mental breakdown. The management is the poorest excuse I've ever seen in my years of renting all over the country. Everytime I go to the office with a question or concern, no one is there.

The construction is shotty. There are noticeable seams in our carpet and very little insulation. I can hear my neighbors on either side and above me. I'm on the 4th floor and I can still hear the Therapy Cafe thumping away at night. I'd say if you want to rent downtown, there are plenty of other choices. Don't put yourself through it.

get over it honey. you live over a bar. i used to live there...read the good postings, it used to be great!trust me....nothing else in Dayton compares. I know...trust me. I work in Real Estate. this is all because they wanted to pay nothing and have blond chicks with -----in the front to sell to the single, drunk fat guys that you're complaining about. the mgmt. co. sucks...but the problem is the drunken, female owner. start there! best of luck!

I'm considering moving into the apartments and wanted to know the specifics on why the management sucks? Is it that they are "attitudish" or that they dont take care of the maintenance of the actual units in a timely manner? Cheat on the rent? Raise the rent significantly at lease renewal? Can you give me some specifics please? I dont want to make a mistake!

In my experience, the management was never in the office. They took extremely long lunches, showed up late in the mornings and cut out early in the evenings. Normally I wouldn't care about that, but they lock up your packages that don't fit in the mail box, so I'd have to wait days, even weeks to get my packages because I'd have to track down management to unlock the room where they're kept. They're also unorganized. There's only one girl the office who knows what's going on. If you come in and she's not there, you can't get anything taken care of. When I moved out, I carefully documented every conversation I had with them to make sure they didn't try to overcharge me on fees and what I needed to pay per my lease (because I moved out early,) and still, they argued with me over what we agreed to. Now I'm having to fight with them to get our security deposit back. That's what I can tell you out of my personal experience. Like I said, I've rented all over the country and this by far was the worst experience I've had. Good luck!

I was wondering your take on the actual quality of the apartment itself as opposed to the management, specifically the noise level. A few reviews have mentioned that the walls seem really thin, is that your experience as well? Thanks in advance for the response!

I have lived at the Cannery for a little over a year, and I hear no noise. Sometimes I even wonder if I have neighbors here. I know that I do, but I rarely hear them. Where you would hear noise would be an apartment that is immediately over the Therapy Cafe, a bar, and it seems logical to expect to hear noise when you are the apartment that is right above a bar. I never hear anyone. I know some apartments have a ton of brick in them, and I know that serves as excellent insullation.
