When we were looking to move to the area, we thought we were going to be moving to a nice apartment community, boy were we ever wrong. The first question we asked before we even signed our lease was if they did a background check on tenants, so that we knew that our neighbors should be ok. We have small children this is a priority. They of course said that they do, and that no felons or anyone with a criminal history were permitted to live on the premise. When we looked at the townhomes, we were able to look at the one that we were going to be moving into. They promised that the carpet was going to be replaced, new kitchen, and bathroom. We moved from 4 hours away, the day came to move in and guess what nothing was done. Whomever painted the townhouse was in such a hurry that there was paint splattered everywhere. When we did our move inspection, they promised that they would come and do everything that they didnt do. Wrong! Nothing was done. We had no choice to move in we were coming from 4 hours away and had paid the deposit for this place. We didnt think that we would need a back up plan. Upon moving in we found many other things that were wrong with the place. Our back sliding glass door would not open, and it still doesnt open. A major fire hazard, the only way out it through the front door. The bathtub upstairs in the main bath is falling through the ceiling. We have asked numerous times that they would fix it, they said they would but it still hasnt been done. Our laundry room still has mold growing on the wall where the pipes leak from the bathroom, even though they swear there is no leak. However you can watch the water poor down when you drain the bathtub. There are many violations with the city of kettering and the housing authority. Over the spring our children wanted to play on their so called "state of the art" playground. The playground is full of hornets nests and broken beer bottles, not to mention that the playground equipment is extremely outdated and falling apart. We also found out that we have 4 child predators that have done time living in the complex. This was very upsetting, granted we never had a problem with them but that because I never let my children out of my sight! Since they couldnt play on the playground we decided to by sidewalk chalk. I guess that is a big no no. The managemnt walked over to tell us that the kids were not allowed to draw and a few minutes later maintenance came over and sprayed their drawings away while they stood there crying. Finally, summer came around and we thought well the pool should be fun. Wrong. The water smelled awful. The kids kept scraping the bottom of their feet on the bottom of the pool, because of the broken cement. The kiddie pool wasnt even open since it is broken. The pool wasnt open half of the time and in all honesty the pool didnt even look very safe and healthy for them to be swimming in. You are not allowed to decorate for Christmas even if it done tastefully. Management told us to take down our outside Christmas decorations. In October our lease came up and we told them we would not resign unless everything was completed that needed to be done. To this day nothing has been done. We have found a house for rent, that is cheaper then the rent that we are paying. There are no child predators in the area, and our children can play safetly without haveing to worry about hornets or grown ups making them cry. The new managemnt at the facilty is awful. All they care about is making the office and club house updated and nothing else gets done. The manager is rude and smells of alchohol. Even the emergency maintance came to my friends house to fix something over the weekend and reaked of alchohol. He was stumbling and couldn't even speak right. I was so wrong about Chatham Village, the outside may look nice, but its whats inside that matters. You may go look at the model and think wow what a nice place. The model is the only unit that has been updated, believe me your apartment or townhome will not look as nice. Please think twice! There are many things that they are not up to City of Kettering code or Housing Authority Code.

I lived at Chatham Village for a year and had no problems. I also put up lots of Chrstmas lights and had no problems. The pool was very nice. I do agree that the playground wasn't good at all, but other than that I give it an 8 out of 10 rating.

Have you been drinking with management? We are currently the 10th family this month that has moved out. Seriously, you must not have children. Your first comment should be about the 4 child predators living in the complex. When I live somewhere I went to live in a child friendly area. When it comes to decorating for Christmas, if you live on Scarsdale dr, they dont want you decorating, because it doesnt look uniform. Their exact words "it lacks curb appeal". I fell sorry for you. Good luck to you. Unfortuntely, you can find a nice apt or house for rent that is much nicer, updated, and cheaper. Not too mention nicer areas (with no child predators). When rent is going up to almost 900.00 for those whose leases are expiring (those who have 3 bed 2 1/2 bath), not too mention poor maintenance and management it is definately not worth it!! Good luck to you!

I have had no problems and live on Scarsdale Drive. There are many children who play in the area and the playground has been updated and painted as was the pool. summer of 2008 was very pleasant. I've lived here for 4 years and recently my dauaghter and granddaughter moved in - they also love it. it was quiet. They have tried to have community events ie community garage sale, first friday donuts and coffee klatsch, holiday carry-in where they provided the meat few came and some events had to be cancelled. i moved from a very nice house in centerville when we retired and have had no problems. we are handicapped and maintenance has done all they could to help us. I hope to stay here for years to come. these are old apartments but they do there best to improve the property. for the past six months they
ve been tearing down the old patio fences and building new ones which look very nice. they've been evicting trouble makers (dirty, loud etc,) quickly. I give this a 9 out of 10
