I lived in the French Country buildings and my neighbours were pretty nice. Like all apartment communities, there is a mix of young professionals, college kids, families, and some people you'd just rather not live around (but that happens anywhere). Parking wasn't a problem and it seemed safe, though a bit loud if you lived near a lot of students. If you're young and like to have a good time, it's a good place to live. If you put the kids to bed early, it may not be for you. I like the diversity--the place is fairly economically and racially mixed, but people seem to get along fine.
The great thing is, you can walk everywhere. Town and Country shopping centre is just a couple blocks up the road, and the apt. complex is on the busline, so you can easily hop the bus to Centerville and Dayton Mall.
I only have a few complaints. First, the buildings are old and therefore poorly insulated, and you have an electric furnace, which you don't have access to (to change the filters, etc). so it's not the most efficient for heating (mine was about $120/month). Also, I had a butt-ugly 1970's kitchen with a brown stove, white counters, and blue flooring. The living room, bedrooms, etc. were neutral, the place got a lot of light, and larger rooms than I've seen in any newer building around here (MBR was 12x16, LR was 16x21). A final word about maintenance: the crew does a TERRIBLE job of snow removal and salting, so if you don't like to dig your car out or if it is difficult for you to walk, I wouldn't advise living here in the winter.
