Overall Good, with a few problems

I have lived here since 2003. I feel that the new management company has done a great job and is really trying to create a nice community. I like the size of my apartment, the parking, and I feel safe here. It's a great location for my job and is very close to stores like Target, Amar India, Barnes and Noble, etc.

However, while the two primary staff members are wonderful, just this week I had to deal with a staff member who was unwilling to help me. I placed a maintenance request, and it has yet to be dealt with (four days letter and it involves a ceiling fan about to fall). I have had problems with maintenance not being prompt--once it took them a month to get a closet door fixed. On the other hand, they did a great job replacing a broken washer. So, I would say they are inconsistent but overall I can't complain.

What is really driving me crazy about this place are the rowdy people living here. It's just getting louder, and I'm tired of it. I know that's part of apartment living, but I'm tired of it. My next door neighbors appear to be teenage or college age boys--I feel like I'm paying too much to live in a dorm like environment.

So I think the rent is a little too high for what I have received in return. Right now, I have no ceiling fan and the AC appears to be malfunctioning, and I feel like I am living in a sauna.

It's important to know when you move in that these are older buildings and thus expect a lot of maintenance issues. I am hoping when I move out they come in and fix problems with the AC, poor insulation in winter, an ancient dishwasher, and so on.

The best thing about my apartment is that it came with a washer and dryer. It has a nice balcony with a great view of the pond that has many amusing geese, ducks and cranes.

I recommend Mad River, though the rent is still high for what you get.
