I've been living at saint clair lofts for almost a year now. So far the experience has been great. They did have a management change recently and I would have to say it was for the better...
This apartment complex isn't for everyone though. It's a 100 unit high-rise. It will be noisy. I keep a box fan in the bedroom to drown out the drunks stumbling home at 2am. It works just fine. If you don't think that will be enough, then maybe you should consider buying a house in the suburbs...
Maintenance is great. I've had problems that were quickly addressed- no complaints here...It's walking distance to the Oregon District where there are many bars and places to eat...the river and bike/walking path is only a few blocks away. Riverscape is nice and even more entertaining during festival season...
Yes, there are bums walking around. It's downtown Dayton for the love of God! Bums have to live and hang out somewhere too! Just don't put yourself in bad situations and you'll be fine...
The gym's ok (an equipment upgrade would be nice) I prefer the downtown YMCA (monument & wilkinson) but St. Clair's gym has all the basics. There is a tanning bed, a community room, and a nice open courtyard with table's and chairs. It's a secured building. I feel safe. Parking can be inconvenient but hey, once again, it's downtown DAYTON- not the most luxurious city to live in...It's the cheapest loft-style apartment complex you'll be able to find downtown. They even run a 2 months free special on a 13 month lease. Can't beat that!
