Question: What do you get when you cross three rude rental office girls and a poorly maintained property'

Answer: Steeplechase Apartments!

Here are some of the pros and cons of Steeplechase Apartments:

PROS

- Location

Easily accessible to major routes such as: S.R. 725, S.R. 48, I-675, I-75, and
Wilmington Pike

- Quiet atmosphere

Nice setting that is off the beaten path

-Parking Lot

They are now in the process of repaving the parking lot. (It has looked like a mine field for quite some time though.)

CONS

- RUDE OFFICE STAFF

When I went to resign my lease I wanted to negotiate a price with them. They were very firm in their price and told me that they didn't care if I resigned or not and that I was "just a number". After living there for two years, resigning for my third year, I would expect to be more than "just a number" to them.

- Maintenance is very poor

It took nearly two weeks to fix a broken toilet. I guess they figured I could hold it for that long!

It took one year to remove a large tree limb that had fallen from a bad storm right behind my apartment.

The windows in my apartment are very leaky and you will pay quite a bit during the wintertime to heat your apartment. You can literally feel drafts pouring in through these windows. One of my windows is broken and won't stay open.

Every year I have an infestation of insects which spread throughout my apartment. It typically takes them quite some time (1-2 weeks) to respond to come out and spray. Until that time I have to constantly live with bugs on my kitchen counters, bathtub, bed (yes quite gross), and family room.

A friend of mine visited Steeplechase the other day to view an apartment. She said the staff would not show her an apartment! What is the point of having an office staff if they won't/don't do their job'

Another friend of mine used to work for the Connor Group (Steeplechase's parent company.) At that time she was in a training program and was assigned to Steeplechase. After one week she requested to be transferred because she could not get along with the rude staff.

I had to make a copy of my key to give to maintenance because they did not have a copy. Normally you would think that a landlord has a key to their own property, but they didn't and couldn't seem to get a copy made after I left my key for them several times.

There are no locks on the entrances to the buildings. Many apartments keep the front doors locked and require visitors to be buzzed to gain entrance. Not Steeplechase!

Take a look at the dilapidated basketball court, tennis courts, and workout room as an example of poor maintenance. (Most of the machines in the workout room are old and don't work.)

The Connor group used to have a line on their website stating that they buy "distressed, underperforming" properties and "turn them around" I've noticed that they redesigned their website and took that line off. (Smart move) What they should say is that "Larry Connor buys distressed, underperforming properties, distresses them even further and lines his deep pockets because he doesn't take care of his properties!"

The bottom line:

Look elsewhere. There are plenty of other apartments in the area that you could consider. If you are still not convinced by these reviews, take a look at some of these things I have listed. Also, if your time allows, drive through Steeplechase at night. The parking lot is literally a ghost town! I don't see how the complex is at "96% capacity" like the liars in the rental office told me. If you still decide to make a visit, tell them to stop parading those constumed people with promotional signs in front of the complex! If you drive down Clyo Road frequently, you'll know what I'm talking about.

They would not show me an apartment either, there reason was that none were ready to be shown. Management at a diffrent local(same company) thought they were up to no good.

I lived at Cambridge Commons (another Connor Group apartment) and the front office girls were just a rude. The supervisor even hung the phone up on me after I continously questioned her about getting my security deposit back. That place was extremelly run down and dilapadated!!! Don't rent form the Connor Group!!

I'm having problems with the NEW manager at Steeplechase. She will try to make you the renter look bad. She has claimed that I cleaned my carpet with bleach! Why would I clean my carpets with bleach?!!! The office is also stating that we didn't turn our keys in upon move out which of course is wrong. We turned them in at the drop-off box and then called the office the next day to make sure they recieved them and of course they said they had but then the new manager said that we never did and that we have to pay for those EXTRA days when she finally checked us out. I will never rent from Connor & Murphy properties again!!!!

Scarey. I'm afraid of this company.
