I've lived in Steeplechase for 3 years now.

PROS:

As another reviewer wrote, location. Its a snap to get on the freeway, get to stores, etc. In my opinion location is the selling point of this place.

Crime is super low.

First year was really cheap.

Moderate to Low rent for the Centerville area.

CONS:

They significantly up the rent on you after your first year.

Maintenence is slow--you have to bug them a couple times to get something fixed (unless its major) but if you bug them they get it done.

Poorly kept courts and clubhouse (the weight room is a joke). EDIT 7/20/06 Since writing this the weight room has been redone and it's decent.

They love posting low ass prices as you drive into the place like "1 bedrooms for $500" or, "2 bedrooms from $575!" Which pisses the hell out of you when you're paying $100 bucks more a month than what they're openly advertising. As another reviewer wrote, they're jerks on renewing leases too. EDIT 7/20/06 they still do this, its still annoying.

If you're cheap & thinking about living here I'd recommend doing it for a year and then leaving to take advantage of the good 1st year offers they have.

Edited on July 20, 2006 by myself. Things got a little better since I first wrote this review. The new people in the front office are a lot more helpful than the old ones. I also edited a couple other of the comments.

Sounds like you got a move in special your first year. And now, your pissed that other people are getting that when they move in? Sounds like the only jerk is you.

Please, pplarerude05. Either you work for Connor or you are clueless. I know exactly what this person is referring to because same thing happened to me...and no! I was not on a "special." They can take their tacky, trailer park signs that are FALSE ADVERTISING and stick 'em.

I agree Zippy1athome. I live in another community owned by the Conner Group and just thought I would go and look what other people are saying in their other properties. The Conner Group has been sticking it to us for a year now. They lie to you, raise your rent constantly, and give you very low maintenance.

I like the costumed peoplet that dance around on Clyo Road. If I owned a business, that would be the tactic I would use if all else failed to attarct customers. I would resort co cartoon tactics like this to get business. Admit it, place is a dump. Dumpy people, dumpy staff....just a DUMP! Unless you like to live in a dump, dont move here. It's that simple.

I agree. It is a dump. I rented the clubhouse for a reception on a Saturday. When I arrived the place was a disaster. Carpets were dirty with glitter and trash. The men's restroom has a broken urinal that had been used, excessively and not flushed. It was gross. The kitchen/bar area was filthy with something spilled all over the counters. And this is their RENTAL OFFICE. I couldn't believe it!
