I just moved to Ohio a few months ago and happened to find Van Buren. The staff was friendly and helpful and we looked at the model townhome. Of course it was in excellent condition as no one has lived there in years - if ever. Our townhouse has hardwood floors...but the polyurethane is coming off the floor in big scraps making a huge mess everyime we walk across the floor. Little yellow "leaves" of this stuff are all over the place. There are scores of layers of paint on EVERYTHING making some doors impossible to close. The staff reaction' "Just scrape the paint off the edges of the doors" Sheesh.

Our neighbors consist of a pot smoking, partying Biology teacher. Makes you want to send your kids to Dayton Public Schools, doesn't it' And on the other side we have a wannabe rock band that knows two, three chord songs at 150dB when they practice twice a week in their basement. Sounds like they are playing in our living room.

My wife and I drive the newest cars in the lot (92 and 99) and they've both been vandalized. My car was broken into within a month of living here and my wife's car was keyed. Nice.

So - I installed an alarm on each of our cars and now try to be elsewhere when the "practice" starts. The grounds are very well kept up - trash is picked up constantly and the grass is always lush and green. We added another layer of paint in the bedroom (because you can) and swept up another layer of floor scraps. Oh well - for the price of the place, you just cannot beat it. I have experienced similar vandalism and noise (and smells) from far more elite communities than Van Buren. I figure I'm saving money by living here. Ha.
