Sad Downward Spiral

I am a two-year resident with mixed feelings on Walden. Many of the niceties of Walden have been abandoned in the past couple years.

-Private security patrols have been suspended.
-Monthly newsletter was canceled
-General preventative maintenance has been drastically cut
-Office staff has turned over multiple times with the exception of one agent
-Landscaping/mowing was changed to a far inferior crew
-Requested maintenance by tenants has become exceptionally slow due to limited staff

I ended my lease and moved out after walking through with one of Walden s leasing agents. The walk through was clean, but a month later they sent my security deposit back with debits due to dirty oven pans and a carpet stain. My first dispute was that dirty oven pans and a $20 carpet stain were not marked in my walk through. Secondly, the damage was well with the normal wear and tear as defined in the lease. Lastly, why would Walden risk bad PR for $30'

I talked with the newest manager about my disputed deposit. Her rebuttal consisted of accusing me of having an illegal cat. This would have been an interesting trick, as I am very allergic to cat-hair. After backing off from that failed attack, she wondered out loud why I would be disputing like only twenty-something dollars.

My reply was fairly brusque; That was my question, why would you risk any future recommendations I would make for thirty bucks'!'

The decline of Walden is quite sad. It was the last quality apartment in Beavercreek with reasonable monthly rent. I had several friends and co-workers move to Walden, but most have left or plan to due to the reasons above.

My hope is that Walden doesn t become a new Stonebridge but that is the direction they are headed.
