Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2007
I have lived @ Hayes Colony for almost three years now. Before I moved there I had never lived in an apartment setting before. I cannot compare I can only say that the staff is very friendly and Sarah is very tough but very fair. She has taken a stand for her residents and gotten a block watch together. At the beginning of sring it appeared as though the teenagers of Delaware were going to take over our community but Sarah would not allow that to happen. The police have been called alot but things have really been cleaned up. Maybe the people complaining are the ones causing the trouble. There are issues with maintenance fixing things in a timely manner but I don't know the situations that they come across daily. The only real problem I have is that the windows and doors are very very old and they leak. I also cannot open all my windows and they stay up. It would also be nice to have a screen door. Mold is a problem if you don't watch. The insulation in the homes is not good. In the summer the air works overtime and in the winter the furnace runs nonstop. Plastic on the windows does help a little. Overall I would recommend Hayes colony because with a little extra insistance on my part the work eventually gets done. My neighbors are great and respect us. The only problem is parking. Some people don't respect the parking situation (usually guests). I wish that residents would make their guests park on the road or @ the guest parking. The pool and playgrounds are a great plus for those of us with kids.
