Home Invasion Robbery
An intruder breaks in, flashes a gun and ransacks a home. It's a crime becoming all too common in one northwest Columbus neighborhood, and police say it happened again Friday morning.
Police say there is a real concern over what appears to be a rash of violent robberies on the northwest side.
At least three people have been robbed at gunpoint in the past four weeks. The latest occurred Friday morning, near West Case and Sawmill Road.
Columbus police were called out around 7a.m. They say two men entered in to an apartment through a sliding glass door, where they then found their victims, 20-year-old Clifton Mills and 21-year-old John Fyfe.
Columbus Police Detective Edward Dahlman says, "All of a sudden there was an individual standing over him yelling for him to get down on the ground, and another individual went upstairs. The other individual had a handgun."
It was four weeks ago that another robbery occurred on Abbey Church. That time, the homeowner caught robbers in the act and shot and killed one of them.
Just two weeks ago, Mills and Fyfe's neighbor was robbed of cash after someone entered through an open door.
The suspects are described as two white males who escaped in a maroon Pontiac Sunfire.
This latest home invasion, police believe was random.
