I've lived at Lakeview for almost 2 years now. I have been generally pleased with my experience. You seem to get what you pay for. It s not perfect- but its pretty cheap so you cant ask for much. So here is my review.

Positives:
-I pay well under what the prices are on their site. Don't pay the prices on their site- get in on one of their "deals" and negotiate the price down while you are in the office.

-You get a lot of space, a garage, and 2.5 baths for a cheap price, especially for Dublin.

-Maintenance is pretty good. My advice to you though: Learn how to light the pilot lights of your oven! My pilot light went out twice within like 2-3 months and both times I called emergency maitenance. They did agree that it was an emergency but took 1 hour to arrive! My unit quickly filled with gas. So after the 2nd time I learned how to light it myself (even though the maintenance guy told me not to). After that my pilot light went off at least 5 more times. So learning how to do it myself prevents having to call maintenance all the time. Another story: Our fridge stopped working- the freon was leaking out of it pretty bad. It stunk up the whole downstairs for a few days (and yes it took them about 3 days to come look at it which I thought was too long as we had a lot of food that we had to store in the garage so it wouldnt ruin- luckily the garage was cold cos it was winter at the time). But the maintenance guy was super friendly and barely looked at our fridge- he immediately went to the maintenance building and brought us back a brand new fridge. I was surprised because I figured they would have given us a used fridge since we have an "old" kitchen. So this was a thumbs up for Lakeview.

-People in the office have been polite. They have been nice when I've called with questions or maintenance requests.

-The location is great. You are really close to Tuttle Mall, other shopping, restaurants, movies, etc.

Negatives:
-Yes the walls are thin. EVERY APARTMENT COMPLEX HAS THIN WALLS! It annoys me when people complain about this, as it should be common knowledge. I've lived in complexes before with VERY loud neighbors and yes it is horrible. If you have loud neighbors, your experience will be a bad one. If your neighbors are quiet, you'll be fine. My neighbors (both sides) are generally quiet, though I can hear their music every once in awhile, and their TVs. I can hear their conversations if I have my unit totally quiet (if I have the tv on, or a fan on, or the furnace running, etc. I cannot hear them). The walls seem to be especially thin in the kitchen. I can hear my neighbors shut their cupboards and hear them clank pans around and stuff like that.

-My unit is an "old" unit- old kitchen and carpet. The appliances are alright- they work but are pretty beat up and the dishwasher and oven both smell bad while they are on. The carpet is pretty threadbare and flat as if there is no pad underneith (probably isnt, who knows).

-Crime. Unfortch every apartment complex in Columbus has crime. You can't get away from it. My roommates car got broken into this past summer while parked in a parking spot across from our unit. It sucks- I wish apartment communities had better security. Plus Lakeview is barely lit at night, which doesnt help.

-Parking! There is not enough off-street parking here. At least on my road. It is very hard to get a parking spot after 5pm on the weekdays, and anytime during the weekends. I'm sure this varies depending on what road you live on though.

-The buildings are becoming very run down. The windows are extremely drafty. The siding is falling off. They are currently putting new roofs on a lot of the buildings though.

In conclusion, as I said earlier it is not perfect, but since it is pretty cheap I don't expect it to be. As long as your neighbors are quiet you should be fine. Get a unit with a driveway if you can- not all the units have driveways. You will probably need the extra space for an extra car, as off-street parking is at a minimum here. I would also get a unit with a newer kitchen, as my "old" kitchen is an eyesore and is falling apart.

Not all places have thin walls.. I live in a complex in hilliard - Bridgestone apartments.. I rarely ever hear a thing.. maybe a cabinet door closing when you let it go hard.. never heard a stereo. a tv or people talking, yelling or anything of the sort... some places are built right... not many it seems but a few anyway... oh well.. good luck to you all.

Nah you just have quiet neighbors... most apartments were built quick and cheaply to minimize cost. Neighbors basically control how you will feel about your apartment. In your complex there are probably people who hate it cos their neighbors are loud and wonder why you like it... its because you have quiet neighbors.
